COSY UP AROUND THE WARMING WOOD BURNER AND PLAN THE NEXT DAYS ADVENTURE

Heather Cottage has all the successful ingredients for a comfortable, quality holiday retreat for both couples and families alike. Traditional cottage features of flagged floors and much use of natural woods and materials have been cleverly matched with a modern-day colour palette and quality accessories to give a 21st-century twist on this superb self-catering retreat.

A warming wood burning stove sets the tone for cosy evenings sat around the fire on the deep-cushioned sofas whilst planning the next days outing and self-catering certainly won’t be a chore in the cottage style kitchen in a contemporary colourway, wrapped in Lakeland slate. Two charming bedrooms on the first floor, a double and twin are dressed with quality mattresses wrapped in luxurious Joules linens to ensure a restful night’s sleep whilst the shower room with power shower will soothe those aching limbs after a day on the bikes or fells. Heather Cottage, next door to Field Cottage, has a rear private, lawned garden, or a front patio area, that would be perfect for a morning coffee. There is also access to secure bike storage if required.

We had a lovely stay at heather cottage - just the break we needed! Cosy cottage, private location with lovely walks on the doorstep, and just a short drive to Ambleside. Prosecco was a nice touch and appreciated the picture directions to find the cottage. Thanks!

Heather Cottage is a lovely private retreat, with good walks on the doorstep and an easy drive to other places of interest. We found the cottage cosy with everything we needed, along with a nice bottle of Prosecco to start the holiday. If we visit the area again, we would be happy to stay here again if it is available.

We had the most amazing stay at Heather Cottage. The place was clean, cosy and conveniently located. It was a great base for exploring the Lake District, close to Ambleside but set back in a quiet location with lovely walks accessible from the doorstep!

The house was lovely in a very quiet area apart from 2 noisy baby lambs when their mum got out. Everything we needed & added extras was very welcome. Quite a walk into Ambleside around 40mins but worth the trip, lots of walks & drives through beautiful countryside.

Fantastic stay in Heather Cottage - location is peaceful and private but close enough to Ambleside should you need anything. Drunken Duck is 1 mile away and brilliant for a meal! Host was brilliant with us following a last minute cancellation of our originally planned accommodation - we couldn’t have been more lucky to find Heather Cottage and would happily return!

Booked very last minute but the ease of everything made it completely stress free. Great location less than 5 minutes drive from Ambleside & other popular locations and walks. lovely setting and relaxing garden with fields of sheep around. Cottage completely equipped with everything you need including a dish washer :). we have been to the lakes loads of times but my husband stated it was his favourite place so far because it was so cosy and had a great vibe about it. Would definitely stay again and recommend it.

We had a great stay in Heather Cottage. Michelle and the team were really welcoming and always on hand with any questions we had in the lead up and throughout our stay. The cottage was really clean and had everything we needed - from pots and pans to a torch for when we walked back from Ambleside in the dark! It was the perfect place to relax after a long day of walking. The location was great, with an easy walk into Ambleside (about 30 mins) where there's plenty of places to eat and drink (Zeffirellis was one of our favourite restaurants). It was the perfect hub for exploring the Lakes and we will definitely be back in the future!

Lovely cottage. Furnishings all modern, clean and bed linens and towels of a very good standard. Everything worked perfectly. Some lovely welcoming touches and we enjoyed the log burner on one of the chilly evenings. Ideally placed for sightseeing - walking or driving. All in all we had a really lovely stay here. We knew we were well supported by LR if we needed anything, but we didn't! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Very enjoyable 10 day stay after lockdown. Super clean and comfortable, and very well situated for exploring many beautiful spots around Windermere, Coniston and Langdales. Hawkshead is charming.

We had a lovely relaxing stay in Heather Cottage. It had everything we needed and was a cosy sanctuary to return to on blustery days. We particularly enjoyed nibbles and drinks in the garden (the welcome bubbles were much appreciated) and home cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We would not hesitate to recommend.

A lovely holiday in the lakes to get away for a bit and to have a think about whether we want to move there. To summarise the cottage, if it were to come on the market tomorrow, I would buy it instantly, and not change a thing, including the furniture, decorations, linen, kitchen ware, electronics...everything! What a perfect house and a complete home away from home. Didn't want for anything. Book it, you won't regret it

Just recently got back from our stay at Heather Cottage. I could not fault anything about it. It was fabulous! The cottage was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities you could possibly need. I would thoroughly recommend staying here and will definitely be returning.

Great stay, lovely little cottage, everything is there. Loved the little welcoming basket with local products and very handy for the morning! We feel at home, it is very clean, everything has been thought through, from the board games to the binoculars to observe the birds. Not far from Ambleside so it is both far enough to feel quiet and relax and close enough by car to do some shopping or eat somewhere. Really loved it! Thank yo

Heather Cottage near Ambleside. What a delightful cottage, well equipped and tastefully furnished and decorated. The location is ideal for walks in the surrounding countryside and to nearby towns. We enjoyed the walk through fields and woods to Hawkshead and the stroll to nearby Skelwith Bridge. We ate in the cottage on several nights enjoying an after dinner drink in the garden soaking up the views and treated ourselves to a lovely meal in the renowned Drunken Duck. Having stayed in many places in the Lakes over the years, Heather cottage was certainly up there with the best.

By far one of the best cottages I have ever stayed in! The home is beautifully decorated with a modern touch yet full of its original charm, and the little touches like the games/books/dvds, the wine on arrival and the decoration made us feel right at home our whole stay. We especially loved sitting in the garden and watching the sheep! The cottage is in a lovely location, a short drive to anywhere you’d wish to go and about a 40 minute walk into the centre of Ambleside. I could not fault this cottage! It was such a pleasure to stay here! Beautiful place and amazing communication from the hosts, I would not hesitate to recommend.
