Upcoming Summer Events
Heading to the Lakes this Summer and after some good events to attend?
Here are just a few of the larger events you can look forward to during the summer months.

Cumbria Steam Gathering
Steam engine enthusiasts, assemble! And not just steam engines: there’s also custom cars and trucks, military vehicles, tractors, motorcycles… you name it.
One of the biggest events in the county, attracting over 20,000 visitors every year, the Cumbria Steam Gathering showcases vintage vehicles of all shapes and sizes in a fun-packed weekend the whole family will enjoy.

Esk Fest
It might not be as big as Glastonbury, or even Kendal Calling, but family-friendly Esk Fest has a charm all of its own.
Calling itself the Lake District’s number 1 micro festival, you can expect live music (there are three stages), magic, comedy, films, food, beer, cocktails, games, street performers, kids’ entertainment and loads more – and all in the beautiful setting of the Eskdale Valley. Face paint optional.
Two things to note: due to the remote location, there is no phone signal, and the festival is cash only.

Cartmel Races
When it comes to a grand day out in our beautiful county, all bets are off. A day at the races it is. Experience the thrill of national hunt racing against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District at Cartmel Racecourse.
Bring a picnic, have a party, enjoy the funfair, and try not to lose your shirt this August bank holiday!

Westmorland County Show
A celebration of all things agricultural, the annual Westmorland County Show features livestock shows, with cattle, sheep, pigs, alpacas, horses and more. Hundreds of trade stalls with everything from farm machinery to garden furniture. A huge food hall crammed with local fare. A chance to have a go at rural crafts. And, of course, there’s traditional Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling to enjoy too.

Keswick Beer Festival
Attracting thousands of ale lovers every year, who come to sample a huge range of beers and ciders, the Keswick Beer Festival has been going strong since 1997.
Come and join in the fun, either inside the huge (and we mean huge) marquee or enjoy an ale or two outside on the green and admire the gorgeous surroundings of Keswick Rugby Club and the view of Skiddaw – the fourth highest mountain in England.
As well as hundreds of beers and ciders to choose from (we don’t suggest you try them all!), there are live bands to keep you entertained throughout the weekend too.
