Grizedale forest is a popular destination for cycling so, book online at least 20 hours before you plan to start your hire. They do take walk ins but, if you don’t book but it is a case of first come first served

Sadly there are no bike hire services in Grasmere itself, though you can get an e-bike delivered to your door!

Coniston is a quieter alternative to Windermere, with a more relaxed atmosphere.

It’s a great base for exploring the southern Lake District and has some challenging cycling routes nearby, including the famous Hardknott Pass.

If you’re staying in Staveley, it no longer has a local bike hire service, though it remains a great hub of cycling activity.

Pop in to Wheelbase and ask the staff for tips on where to ride!
