Written and Directed by Alan Ayckbourn

Friday 17 May at 7:30 pm

A revival of the Classic West End hit comedy Things We Do For Love, produced by Bowness Theatre Festival.
“A must-see for old and new fans of Ayckbourn.”

Head-strong, determined and career-driven Barbara lives alone in her male-free, child-free flat. Widower Gilbert, a postman with a passion for painting, rents the basement. When Barbara’s old school friend, Nikki and her fiancé, Hamish move into the upstairs flat, everyone’s life takes a very different direction and forbidden desires are soon revealed!

When it was first produced in 1996, praise from the critics was practically unanimous. It transferred to the West End where Jane Asher took on the role of Barbara. Once again the play was extremely well-received, was nominated for an Olivier and won Alan the Lloyds Private Banking Playwright Of The Year Award.

Other successful productions included performances by Natalie Imbruglia and Belinda Lang.

“Things we do for love, is a great play…go grab a ticket!   John Godber.

“It is sharp, it is gorgeously funny”.  Benedict Nightingale, The Times original production review
