Royal Northern Sinfonia
Conductor: Delyana Lazarova
Cello: Jaemin Han

Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin
Shostakovich: Cello Concerto No. 1
Carlos Simon: Fate Now Conquers
Beethoven: Symphony No. 5

Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto is 30 minutes of the most intense music you’ll ever experience. Tense and attention-grabbing from the start, it draws you right in, lets you relax a little in the mournful slow movement, and then ratchets things up in a nail-biting ending.

The concert is capped with Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and what are perhaps the most famous four notes in history.

Free pre-concert talk at 6.30pm.
