Welcome to this charming 17th Century Traditional Lakeland Cottage

Wordsworth Lodge is your ideal hub for a family or group getaway. The cottage originally incorporated Ann Tyson’s house which is adjacent. William Wordsworth and his brother Richard lodged here whilst attending Hawkshead Grammar School. The master en-suite was their bedroom.

It has been beautifully renovated, seamlessly blending modern fittings with its rich heritage. Step inside, and you'll discover an inviting open-plan space that combines the lounge, dining room, and kitchen. Curl up together on the large leather sofas cosy in front of the log burner while enjoying your favourite shows on the smart TV.

The kitchen, which has underfloor heating, boasts a deluxe range master cooker with a gas hob and, for added convenience, there is an integrated dishwasher and fridge. You'll find modern appliances in the nearby utility room, including a fridge/freezer, wine fridge and washer/dryer. This setup connects to a handy downstairs bathroom, making life a breeze for all 8 guests staying here.

After a day of adventures, whether exploring the local shops or the nearby Grizedale Forest, gather around the dining table, where there's plenty of room for everyone to enjoy a meal together.

?From the lounge, you can easily access the four bedrooms. There is 1 Double bedroom downstairs with an en-suite wet room. Upstairs there is a king-size bedroom, 1 twin (which can be made up as a Super King bed on request), and 1 master king-size room, each offering its own en-suite bathroom. There is also a pretty window seat in the master bedroom, which is perfect for taking in the village views.

There is a boot room with historic stone-flagged floor and oak panelling. When you're in the mood for some fresh air, head to the back of the property, where you'll find a long, narrow courtyard area complete with tables and chairs. It's the perfect spot for dining al fresco and soaking up the outdoors. Enjoy your stay!

An amazing cottage in the perfect location! We were a group of 6 adults, a baby and 2 dogs and found the cottage had plenty of communal space for meal times and it was a great bonus to have an en suite for every bedroom. The cottage has been well renovated and had a good kitchen with everything needed to cook big group meals. We appreciated having local shops, tea rooms and pubs within a minutes walk and still being able to go out the front door on a picturesque dog walk. I would highly reccomend staying here!

Needing accommodation for 3 families (inc 1 baby & 3 dogs), the individual en-suites and open plan layout gave everyone their own facilities but with a lovely area to all come together for meals and evening social gatherings. Everything was well thought out, well provided for, of a high standard and very clean. The cottage is full of character and far exceeded our expectations. Wordsworth Lodge is set in a great location, not too far from lanes and longer routes for walks. Set close to the centre of Hawkshead’s lovely shops, excellent Pubs, Restaurants and Tea Shops (really liked Minstrels Gallery & Poppi Red, close to the cottage & dog friendly). The only downside found was that we had two large cars and they didn’t fit into the allocated parking, but ample for one and the parking permit covered the other. Be aware though that the car park behind the allocated parking spaces is not covered by the permit (attracts a parking ticket!), the permit is valid in the Main Visitor Car Park

We loved it. Hawkshead is nicely placed for getting around the Lakes and also has some nice foody places/pubs. The house itself is lovely and what a bonus having an ensuite in every room. I would definitely stay again.

Fantastic location, right in the heart of beautiful Hawkshead. Suitable for all our family, and rare to have 4 en-suite bedrooms and especially 1 on the ground floor for our elderly parents. Such a well stocked kitchen with plenty of everything. You could leave the car for the weekend and have an abundance of walks and pubs/resturants on your door step.

My family came to Hawkshead for a weekend away in the lakes, and Wordsworth Lodge was perfect for our needs. We had a 90 year old with us, and chose this property for the accessible downstairs bedroom. We loved that each room had its own bathroom, and particularly enjoyed the incredibly well stocked kitchen! It was a pleasure to stay here, Hawkshead is beautiful and there’s lots to do and see locally, but it also makes a wonderful base to explore more of the lakes.

Property was clean, really well equipped and perfect location. The only suggestion I would have would be to have some throws in the lounge, some in our party like to snuggle under a blanket!

One of those enchanted places in the world where time stands still . The town is lovely and the surroundings beyond spectacular. The walks from the house can go straight into the spectrum of many spectacular walks which lead back to the village too !

We stayed in this superbly equipped and decorated cottage in September. The cottage was warm and cosy with every thought given to comfort. Decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The way the cottage is set out is perfect for two separate family/friendship groups as there are two double bedrooms off each of the two staircases (leading from the living room) giving privacy for each group if this was something sought. All bedrooms unusually have en-suite bathrooms which is a huge bonus for a property with 4 bedrooms, plus a WC off the living area. In the heart of the village, just a stone’s throw to the village shops, pubs, and restaurants. Great location in the heart of the Lakes.

Worsdworth Lodge is in a great location right in the village centre within easy walk of the pubs and shops. We were absolutely delighted with the cottage, it has been done to such a high standard whilst retaining it's original charm. It was warm and cosy and had all of the equipment and facilites needed, with a lot of thought put into the furniture and decor. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending to my family and friends.
