SNUGGLE UP AROUND THE WOOD BURNING STOVE

The Lawns is delightfully presented in a traditional style and very well equipped for a self catering break at any time of the year.

The dual aspect wood burning stove can be enjoyed from both the lounge and kitchen and is perfect for snuggling around in the cooler months and the comfy bedroom with king size bed ensures a good night’s rest for all. The well fitted kitchen is wrapped in cool, black granite and has everything you’ll need to cook a hearty breakfast or intimate dinner for just the two of you. A modern bathroom has a shower and bath, ideal for those who prefer a long soak with a good book.

The Lawns has a private patio area with furniture provided from where to sit out and take in the delightful shared grounds and there’s ample room for the dog to run around too.

Two good eating places are on the doorstep if you choose to escape the kitchen, Chester’s by The River and The Talbot Bar at Skelwith Bridge Hotel, both offering food throughout the day and into the evening. The Lawns can be booked in conjunction with Carr Crag Pavilion which is next door.

This was our second time staying at The Lawns. It was just as wonderful the second time as the first. The accommodation is well thought out and it felt like home as soon as we walked through the door. The Lake District is one of our favourite places and The Lawns is somewhere we would choose to stay every time.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful and peaceful location. I have stayed here several times and it never fails to provide the perfect holiday. Has everything you need - and more. As always, Lakeland Retreats very very helpful and supportive.

We loved everything! Ideally situated near Ambleside, but still in a quiet area. Skelwith bridge pub is literally at the bottom of the road. Great location for walks to elterwater. And skelwith force. Cathedral caves are literally 2.5 miles away.

Beautiful place inside and outside. Cosy log burner and well equipped kitchen. Gorgeous views from all windows and even saw a deer one morning! Bed very comfy. Central to lots of walks in doorstep and pub and cafe across the road. Will definately be back. Eddie our Jack Russell loved it too.

Central, well equipped clean property. A change of mattress would be good as springs creak when you turn over. Would recommend

My third visit to The Lawns this year - and it is indeed the perfect holiday escape. The weather misbehaved at times - but The Lawns once again proved to be the perfect bolthole. Plenty of space, comfortable with everything you could possibly need and such a lovely tranquil setting. What more could you ask for!

The best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in (and there have been lots!) The perfect weather and beautiful location was matched by The Lawns, tranquil setting with everything you could need for a perfect stay. My springer spaniel and I had the most wonderful holiday - thanks to Lakeland Retreats - who go above and beyond to ensure you have the perfect break. THANK YOU

Lovely setting and location. However, wouldn't recommend staying in Autumn/Winter though as it's freezing cold. The ground floor is heated by two storage heaters that do nothing. And the controls have been covered up to prevent you changing the settings! Also, wifi technically exists but at 0.3mbps and constantly cutting out, you'll be lucky if you can even Google directions for somewhere (no phone signal, which can be a blessing). I would potentially stay here again in Summer.

I had a fantastic week at The Lawns. The property was perfect in every way. Spotless, well equipped, spacious, very comfortable bed, a powerful shower and the bonus of a bath after long walks. A great location for nearby Chesters for a coffee/food, the Cumbria Way, Loughrigg tarn and buses to the Ambleside/Langdale Valley. I didn't use the car all week as there was a wealth of walks from the door or using the bus for linear ones.I'd be happy to stay at The Lawns in the future and recommend Lakeland Retreats as a friendly and efficient family holiday company.

We had a nice weekend stay at ‘ The Lawns ‘ and found the accommodation comfortable and well located for visits to Elterwater, Ambleside and Grasmere and surrounding areas. The accommodation is a good size with a well fitted kitchen and living area. Surrounding area is wooded and ideal for exploring and dog walking. The property has a small fenced off area for outdoor relaxation with seat and patio table and chairs. The only negatives we found is that the decking area was quite slippy underfoot with it being wet and the fenced off area could be made more dog friendly by placing wire mesh between the fence rails as small dogs could escape . We would consider a stay in the future at this accommodation.
