SPACIOUS, COMFORTABLE SURROUNDINGS MAKE FOR A TRULY MEMORABLE HOLIDAY

The front door entrance leads into a hallway here at The Barn with plenty of storage space for all your outdoor equipment. Bedroom 1 is a double, delightfully presented in a traditional, cottage style with an adjacent and equally pretty twin room, both sharing a bathroom with bath, walk-in shower, basin and WC.

Stairs to the first floor (or external access via patio doors) lead to the large open plan living space with seating arranged around the woodburning stove, the dining area position next to a window where you can look out over the village, the well-equipped kitchen offering everything you’ll need to properly self cater. Two further bedrooms sit on this floor, a further twin and a large double, the double having an en-suite shower room with cubicle, basin and WC. A second family bathroom has a bath with basin and WC and a useful utility houses a washer, dryer and further fridge/freezer.

Outside, there’s ample parking for up to 4 cars and garden furniture is provided within the enclosed, mature gardens.

BEAUTIFUL 17TH CENTURY BARN CONVERSION PERCHED ABOVE THE VILLAGE OF CONISTON

The Barn is an impressive, period barn conversion set in a superb location above Coniston, one of Lakeland’s few remaining true villages. The footpath to Coniston Old Man passes the end of the lane and lovely views can be enjoyed from the front of the house out over the village below. The Barn offers spacious accommodation and is delightfully presented with comfortable furnishings married perfectly with exposed trusses, beams and soft, muted shades throughout. The open plan living space on the first floor, featuring a statement wood burning stove, is a superb social area where everyone can gather to share precious time together.

Coniston village is a short stroll downhill where you’ll find a fine selection of traditional pubs, most of which serve food throughout the day and into the evening along with a superbly stocked Co-op supermarket where you’ll find everything you need to cook up a hearty family brunch or supper. The famous Ruskin Museum is well worth a visit as is Ruskin’s former home, Brantwood on the East side of the Lake. No visit to Coniston would be complete without a trip on Steam Yacht Gondola whilst soaking up the stunning views from the water, the setting for Swallows and Amazons and tragically, the scene for Donald Campbell’s ill-fated world record water speed attempt.

We came to stay for my dad’s 60th and have a lovely time. The location is fabulous and we were greeted with a bottle of fix and some chutneys which was a lovely touch. The fireplace was a huge feature, we loved our stay and would come again!

I recently stayed at this amazing Airbnb nestled in nature, surrounded by lush greenery and an abundance of trails perfect for hiking and exploring. The property is a beautifully modern barn-style place, providing a unique and relaxing atmosphere that made for an ideal break. The serene environment and thoughtful design elements truly made this stay a memorable and rejuvenating experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature. It was perfect for our big family. Will definitely come back.

The house is lovely. Lots of space to socialise. Plenty of bathrooms, comfy sofas and great dining table. We had gorgeous weather but if we hadn’t the entrance hall was a brilliant space to accommodate all our wet walking gear. We would love to come again.

Great base for a family holiday - a short but steep walk from 4 village pubs, all of which serve food. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and a 10/15 minutes walk from the cottage to a jetty from which boats can be caught to other locations on the lake. We also swam one day at the north end of the lake which was lovely - though swimming shoes recommended due to the stones! The kitchen was well kitted out for cooking for larger groups.

A great place to stay when visiting Coniston. Would highly recommend any families or groups looking to stay here if you’re spending time in the Lake District. There’s plenty of space for each guest and a dog, plus the facilities are just what you need for a weekend away in the Lake District.

The Barn is within walking distance of Coniston centre although a little steep on return. Adequate parking space for 2 large family cars. Living room window has good views over the village rooftops to distant hills. It is located in a peaceful area. The footpath up to "Coniston Old Man" passes nearby.

The Barn is a very comfortable property and suited us perfectly being a family of seven over 3 generations. The location is ideal being very quiet but only a short but steep walk into the centre of Coniston which is well served with shops, cafes and pubs. There is plenty of parking for four cars but also a choice of walks from the door. We had a great week at the Barn.

We had a great stay at The Barn, it was a perfect location and had everything we needed. The boot room was especially useful to keep all our boots and coats. A small issue was found at check-in but after a call this was addressed immediately. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

The barn was amazing for our family group! The location was outstanding, the place spacious and comfortable. We did have babies with us and worried about the stairs so I would caution other families with young children to bring a long gate but overall an amazing stay!

We’ve stayed at The Barn 5 times now, and we just love it! It has a big flagstone hall for all your clobber, comfy living area, nice bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen, plus everything you need to have a great stay. It’s in a lovely quiet spot just above the Sun Inn so is a quick (albeit steep!) walk into the village centre but away from passing traffic and has great views. Coniston itself has a good selection of shops & cafes and some great walks from the door, as well as the fabulous Bluebird Cafe down by the lake. It’s much quieter than Grasmere or Ambleside which we like. The Barn is a fantastic base for Lakeland adventures!

Nice period house with lovely views, a good size for a group, great location for climbing the Old Man of Coniston, as well as close to local shops, petrol station and short walk to Coniston Lake. However, it was quite cold, with no soundproofing so movement and conversations can easily be heard from around the house.

We loved staying at this place. It was a great size, location, and had everything we needed. Lots of facilities. The house is spacious, and we loved our stay. Lots of space for parking. Lovely views of the surrounding area. You are close enough to the village to experience everything you need yet slightly on the outside so you feel away from the potential hustle and bustle. 5 to 10 mins walk to the chippy, cafes, pub and local shops. You are also on the doorstep of the Old man of Coniston. If you decide to go for that fab walk then forget about driving up the hill to the car park just walk it; it’s steep but worth it. It takes less than 1/2 hour to the start point of the main trails. The walk to the top of the Old man is great and gives you amazing views of the lakes. We really relaxed with our kids and our friends. Perfect in these difficult days. Thank you!

The Barn was the perfect size for our two families, including four teenagers. It was very clean and had everything we needed, the welcome package was a lovely touch too. Added bonus was the large entrance area to store walking boots and coats, etc. Views from the windows were beautiful. It was the ideal location for accessing Coniston Lake, only a ten minute walk. Also local pubs and shops were easily accessible by walking although you do need to book as most of them stop serving food at about 7pm. Perfect base for exploring the area. Would definitely recommend and would love to return.
