A LIGHT, BRIGHT COMFORTABLE COUPLES’ RETREAT

One of a handful of exclusive apartments located at Studio House, this cosy and comfortable former artist’s workspace is bright, light and airy. Elevated above the street, up a driveway and reached up a flight of external stove stone steps, Studio Cottage is well presented; enter into the sitting room with laminate flooring and a centrally placed gas-fired iron stove around which the comfy sofas sit.

An inner hallway leads to a neat and newly fitted dining/kitchen with Amtico flooring, modern appliances and a stylish breakfast bar.

The pretty double bedroom sits to the front of the cottage and is presented in a country cottage style with a lovely outlook towards Loughrigg Fell and Nab Scar.

The contemporary, fully tiled bathroom offers a deep bath with an electric shower, basin and WC, perfect for a long soak after a day on the hills.

Outside, a small patio garden area has bench seating and there’s an additional shared patio area, again with seating. Enjoy extensive views over the village to the fells beyond.

Parking for unloading is at the bottom of the steps – take care with low sided vehicles.

For long-term parking, a parking permit is supplied for use on the nearby long-stay car parks and can be used on several other car parks within South lakes providing quite a saving on your holiday.

Please note: Studio Cottage is accessed via external, slate steps so may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties. The steps can be slippery in wet weather.

Lovely cottage, in an amazing central position in Ambleside. Although central still very quiet. We had a couple of minor issues which were dealt with quickly and efficiently by very pleasant staff.

Great location in the centre of Ambleside. No parking at location but pass for council car park provided. Nearest car park a few minutes away but can be tricky to get a spot at busy times. Overall we had a great stay and would stay here again.

We've stayed at Studio cottage 3 years in a row, that's how much we like it! It is in the centre of Ambleside, which is about an hour from most places in the Lakes really which gives lots of options when choosing hiking routes. The cottage is fully fitted with the kitchen which is a massive bonus as it allows you to cook your own meals. We will be staying next year too!

Perfect stay! We love Ambleside and this stay made us love it even more Spotless, right in the centre of Ambleside, everything you need within a 5 minute walk. Parking permit so you can leave your car in the local car park but still able to unload car outside of studio. Can’t fault it at all - we will be back!

Great little cottage, felt very private but was right in the centre of town. Very warm and cosy. We didn’t feel up to reversing the car up the driveway so carried our luggage from the King Street car park which was only 2-3 mins away on foot.

Overall had a nice stay in the studio, when arriving and departing best to reverse up the hill off lake road opposite herby jacksons. Some say stairs are a struggle, if you have mobility issues possibility but overall not that bad getting into the property. Cleanliness 7/10 Amenities in property 6/10 Location 10/10 Hosts 10/10 Access 8/10 (for us it wasnt an issue but for say my parents 65&70 yr old may be a bit of exercise) Parking 8/10 have to park in a carpark 7 min walk not bad just to keep in mind Not noisy at all property sits just above ambleside village and can barely here anything. Would stay again though! In the perfect spot

We really enjoyed our stay at Studio Cottage! The company in charge of the property was very responsive and helped us with some minor issues we experienced during our stay. There was a beautiful view and it was in an EXCELLENT location which couldn’t be improved! Nice and modern amenities to include a washer/dryer and smart tv. Lots of steps up to the cottage - not for those who cannot do lots of stone steps and wouldn’t recommend for those with lots of luggage or a heavy pram.

Great little cottage for 2, ideal location within walking distance and bus stops. I agree with other reviews saying it needs a deep clean, especially the cream/white carpets and rugs but everywhere in the cottage was clean.

A good stay with a couple of nice finishing touches. Not recommended for elderly people with tight steps to accommodation. Ambleside is a beautiful location with ample pubs, restaurants, walking and gift shops, Matthews Bistro is highly recommended. Boat trip to Windermere with some fantastic views and the car parking permit useful for local car parks (you do need to be there by 1030 otherwise spaces tend to have gone).

We had a lovely stay at this property. The location really is fantastic - the views out of the windows prove it! The kitchen and bathroom are really modern and well-decorated and kitted out. The wine rack and spa gift bag are lovely touches that were much appreciated. Also, the amount of walk booklets, maps, and guides in the property are fantastic and were very well used. Our main concern was the cleanliness. A fair bit of TLC is needed - mainly the floors, or maybe a deep-clean. We still had a wonderful week, but felt this let the property down.

Great location in Ambleside's quaint (but not old-fashioned) town centre, with lovely views from the outside patio area - a great spot to soak up the late afternoon sun. The cottage is cosy and modern with a well equipped kitchen, essential ingredients (including milk), walking maps, DVDs, and WiFi. There's a music system too but we didn't try it out. Due to the central location you don't get parking right at the property (reversing the car up the hill to drop off luggage was not for the faint of heart, and you'll need to be comfortable with a few short flights of steps), but the parking permit - valid for a nearby carpark and numerous other carparks in this part of the Lake District - was a really nice perk. This was my first visit to the Lake District and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. And this was a great little spot to come home to each day.

Great location, Ambleside is the perfect mid-spot to explore the lakes. The bungalow is in a great central location, with a free parking permit - essential. There were a lovely little touches in the apartment which made our stay even more comfortable.
