A FLEXIBLE LAYOUT TO SUIT FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Enter past the small walled garden rockery, from the quiet back street elevated above the village, into an open plan area that makes excellent use of its available space. To your left you’ll find everything you and that group need for preparing and enjoying meals together, with a well-thought-out and thoroughly modern kitchen supplying happy diners at the dedicated table and chairs.

To the right, you’ll find a friendly gathering space with exposed beams and sofa seating arranged to bring everyone together after a big day out. There’s a wireless speaker and an up-to-date TV for when you all just want to kick back and unwind.

Straight from the rear of the lounge area, you’ll find a set of stairs that lead to a mezzanine level surrounded by windows for a bright airy laundry area and access to the patio garden to the rear.

Continuing up the stairs you reach the top floor landing with access to the double bedroom – with exposed wood and ample storage, twin bedroom – with more warm wood tones and 2 comfortable beds, and lastly, the shared family bathroom – with a clean, modern tile finish.

SITUATED IN AN ENVIABLE LOCATION IN THE HEART OF POPULAR AMBLESIDE

Set in a conservation area and the oldest part of the Ambleside, this characterful Grade II listed building dates back to the 17th Century and is situated in an enviable position at the top of the affectionately known ‘Peggy Hill’. Tucked away in this quiet yet central village location, Shepherds Fold is a quality cottage in a truly unique Lakeland setting. The village centre is a stone’s throw away (though it should be noted for accessibility that Peggy Hill is short but steep)- brimming with interesting galleries, outdoor shops, cafes, bars and restaurants to tempt you throughout the day and into the evening. Wonderful walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep, and the shores of Windermere and its host of water-based activities are a gentle twenty-minute stroll away.

Shepherd’s Fold is a mid-terrace property packed full of charm and character, all the while paired with contemporary and well-appointed fixtures that clearly demonstrate the outpouring of care that the cottage owners have invested in recent years. The deceptively spacious and interesting layout creates a superb facility for a self-catering break, whatever time of year you choose to visit.

The cottage was delightful! My husband me and Luna (cockerpoo) loved our stay. You do have to keep an eye on the dog outside, but this wasn’t a problem. The fire was a lovely feature and created a couple of lovely evenings in. Great location with pubs and shops on your doorstep. Would come again!!

Really enjoy our stay at Shepherds Fold. It’s such a beautiful, cosy and comfortable cottage all finished to a high specification. It’s a perfect cottage for a peaceful break but with the convenience of everything you need on the doorstep, and of course access to the stunning southern Lake District.

Fantastic cottage and certainly always feel welcomed. Lakeland Retreats are also so easy to work with, with simplicity and customer service always seeming to be a top priority.

Lovely cottage in a brilliant location for accessing all the amenities Ambleside has to offer. The gas fire kept the place cosy and warm. We managed to park outside the cottage, but it is limited. Lakelands retreats were great when we called out of hours due to a broken travel cot, they sorted the issue for us. Loved our stay.

Amazing location, right in the heart of Ambleside. Property was exactly as shown in the pictures and the host also provided additional amenities including high chair and travel cot which made it the perfect place to stay with a baby. Would not hesitate to book again!

We had such a lovely holiday at Shepherd’s Fold cottage. The hill leading up to the property is steep but you soon get used to it and realise there are hills everywhere. We have never stayed at a cottage that offers so much: a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and tumble dryer, blankets on the single beds (my two children loved snuggling up to those), books, games… the list goes on. You want for nothing! The cottage is very central in Ambleside, amenities are close by with so much choice. We barely used the car as we found lots of walks and places to visit within an easy distance. We loved Rydal and the caves; my children and dog had a great swim in the lake there. We also had a delicious takeaway from The Sourdough Pizza Company. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for great walks and cosy evenings in.

We had a lovely stay at Shepherd’s Fold this week. The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped, and very close to Ambleside town centre! It’s perfect for rainy or sunny weather. The only thing to note is that you cannot always park right next to the property, but the property has a parking permit which can be used in the local car parks and also in the other towns nearby which is a really good addition! We would definitely come back again!

We are regularly visiting Ambleside and the lakes but our first time here … I would arrange my visit just to stay here again!! Really ticks all the boxes.. cosy cottage in an amazing location. You would have to be extremely petty to criticise your stay here ! So from a very seasoned traveller this comes highly recommended.

Great location. Well equipped house, the utility room was very useful for our walking clothes. So many nearby walks made it a perfect choice. Easy walk into Ambleside. Would recommend!
