BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED COUNTRY COTTAGE FOR 6

Well appointed and extremely comfortable for 6 and a dog, Riverside House is beautifully presented throughout in a modern, neutral palette with perfectly chosen accessories to create a country, homely feel. Flagged floors to the ground floor set the tone as you enter from the rear into the large open plan living space with large dining table and well equipped wooden painted kitchen with all mod cons as you’d expect from a quality self catering cottage.

The lounge room focuses on a glorious stone wall housing a warming wood burning stove, the windows giving way to views out towards the river. Up the stairs to the first floor where there’s a lovely double to the rear of the cottage and a king size bedroom to the front with en-suite shower and river views.

The house bathroom has a large, deep bath with shower over whilst the third bedroom, a twin, can be found on the second floor. All the bedrooms have quality, comfy mattresses dressed with Egyptian cotton linens to ensure a good nights rest and large fluffy towels will further add to your comfort.

Riverside House is blessed with an enclosed garden with strategically placed seating from where to sit and take in the sights and sounds of the river and the visiting wildlife.

Location & Nearby

WOW, WHAT A LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

There a few cottages in the area that can boast such a picturesque riverside setting as Riverside House. If you’ve ever popped into the fabulous Chesters By The River at Skelwith Bridge for coffee and cake, then you’ll be very familiar with the location of this much-admired property.

A fantastic array of walks can be enjoyed straight from your door ranging from short ambles to full-day hikes whilst cyclists will revel in the number of routes to explore within such a small radius.

Known to its locals as the jewel in Lakeland’s crown, nearby Ambleside is well stocked with plentiful eateries and interesting shopping whilst romantic Grasmere offers a quieter, more relaxed pace set against a backdrop of the stunning scenery that’s been inspiring creatives for centuries. And when you’ve worked up a thirst and an appetite, pop along to The Talbot Bar and sample their menu of ‘Lakeland comfort food’ and local Jennings ale, last orders 9pm.

The house is clearly very popular with many holidaymakers. We loved it. It is right on the corner of the lane by the bridge and river and access to the wonderful Chester's shop and cafe and close to the pub- so extremely handy for breakfast, lunch and dinners too. (Reserve tables as it gets busy!) The garden means things are easier when travelling with dogs. The house is very easy to enjoy- lovely open space downstairs with slate floor and comfy chairs and big dining table. The stairs are quite steep- fine for us but I did think my mum wouldn't have managed them. As its a terraced cottage, the voices from the cottage next door can be heard clearly if the tv isn't on- so be aware they can hear you too! Overall, its a great place to stay and very handy for the Lakes. Parking for two cars on site and then by the river there is space too if you arrive early. (Check in time of 4pm meant we could spend the day walking and time our arrival for later. )

Lovely cozy and comfortable cottage in an excellent location in Grasmere. We thought the lack of outside car parking may be a problem but it wasn’t at all and the cottage itself was warm and well equipped.

Riverside House is perfectly placed for easy access to some wonderful walks. A walk along Elterwater to Lower Langdale, with a stop a great pub. In the sunshine we walked up Lough Rigg for an amazing view. Our family group of six loved the house which was very clean and provided every for our four night stay.

We had a lovely time at the cottage. located right next to the river, the beautiful view from the garden and being lulled to sleep by the river, was just perfect. The cottage had everything you would need for a self catering holiday. There's an open fire and comfortable seats. We enjoyed sitting outside in the sun with the view of the river it was perfect. The bedrooms are comfortable with sufficient space for clothes and the ensuite to the main bedroom was really useful for my elderly dad as there is a walk in shower. The main bathroom has a huge bath with shower over great for soaking aftet a walk. There's a pub next door, whichwe only drank in so cannot coment on food. Chesters is just minutes walk and their food, veggie and vegan was delicious and they have a fabulous deck looking over the river, with all kinds of birds hopping about looking for a crumb or two. Just a 10 minute drive to Ambleside and in the opposite direction Conniston and in a good spot for lots of walks. We had a really lovely holiday amd would definitely return. The hosts were very good at communicating and helped with some restaurant suggestions. We would recommend this as a great holiday cottage.

Lovely house in a fab location. In a hamlet but lovely Chesters round the corner keeps it alive during the day. Lovely view out to the stream. Quality house done right and with fast Internet. Well equipped kitchen and nice bathrooms. Will stay again. Three fab walks right from your door - a stunning loop to Grasmere, lovely evening walk to Elterwater and back, and a nice morning ramble up over a peak to Ambleside. Heaven if you like walking without getting in a car.

Riverside house is a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Great location in the middle of the lakes so good access to north/south lakes, plus only 10 mins by car into Ambleside. Or a 30 second walk to Chesters for fabulous coffee/cakes, lunch’s etc! Lovely riverside walk from the door too, to the pub! The outside space is your front garden, which I expect would be very busy with passers by in the summer. The hosts/staff that we met were lovely and friendly, plus they very kindly enabled an early check in, which was super helpful. The house had everything we needed for our stay, inc. good beds so we slept well, heating was very efficient (esp upstairs) but we still burnt through lots of logs to keep downstairs toasty (we went in April).

We had a brilliant stay at Riverside House. The location is perfect, with beautiful walks on the doorstep. The cottage itself is homely and comfortable, with everything we needed. The log burner made it really cosy on a chilly evening. I would love to have stayed longer, and would highly recommend Riverside House to family and friends.

Lovely cottage in a excellent location. Far enough away from the busy town but close enough if access required. Lovely walks straight from the front door. Clean, bright and comfortable accommodation with all the crockery and pot and pans you need to be fully self catering.

Beautiful home in stunning location! The closest town for amenities is Ambleside, a 7ish minute drive. There’s a fabulous cafe/bakery a minutes walk away but you’ll need to do some big walks to burn off the calories! Perfect for our family of 5 with plenty of space in the common area and space for privacy too. We’d definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay in every way ... from comfy home (recently refurbed) ... to wonderful welcoming touches (homemade bread, farm butter) ... perfect position for walking, dreaming, eating (the modern and very yummy Chester’s cafe is just 10 steps away)! We loved it (5 of us), spacious and modern - and would return! Thank you to the hosts - a superb stay!

Perfect location for those hard hikes in the Langdales,up Helvellyn and over to Scarfell. Also perfect location for those easy walks along the Cumbria Way to Elterwater. This path is also a good jogging route. With pubs around the corner,cafe/shop down the road and Ambleside close for grocery shopping this couldn’t of been better.

An amazing cottage in a perfect location. We were able to walk, mountain bike, eat and drink in a lovely cafe and just relax all directly from the doorstep. The cottage has plenty of space for 6 and has a good selection of entertainment should the weather make you need to spend more time indoors, we were lucky, sunshine the whole time and outdoor heaven

Had a great feeling upon booking this property as I loved the look of it and the location. However, it completely exceeded my expectations as it was simply wonderful and a gorgeous part of the lake district. Plus the vicinity to the pub and Chesters is just unbelievable!! Thanks again
