Enter from the secluded courtyard and step through the full height patio doors and into a traditional farmhouse kitchen and dining area with solid beech floors and wooden units housing a double oven, gas hob, fridge with small freezer box, microwave, coffee machine and washer/dryer. Stairs from the hallway lead to the first floor where you’ll find an inviting lounge with a glorious wood-burning stove set beneath a solid oak beam and window looking out towards Silver Howe. The deep cushioned seating is ideal for snuggling up together and watching a film on the SMART TV or listening to your holiday playlist on the Sonos speaker. The double bedroom has a Victorian brass bedstead with a comfortable mattress dressed in quality linens and antique pine furniture whilst the adjacent shower room is neatly presented with a cubicle, basin and WC.
Outside, there’s a private and secluded courtyard with table and chairs, and ample space for you to securely store your bikes and outdoor equipment – Note, this area is lockable but open to the elements.
Parking is by way of permit on the nearby LDNPA car park at Stock Lane, a short walk from the cottage. You can pull up close by to unload.

The cottage is in a gorgeous area and walkable to the centre of Grasmere town. The shower was a stand out highlight – great water pressure! It was a bit of a challenge finding the cottage at first, instructions could have been clearer as Google doesn't have the exact address. The kitchen was fantastic although didn't have the cleaning equipment that the manual said we should have. But overall we loved our stay in the cottage, it's in a perfect location and was very cosy.

Great location in Grasmere, just a short walk from the main shops which was lovely as it was a bit quieter. Beautiful walks straight from the door so didn't need to use the car all week.

Beautiful cosy cottage for 2. Very well equipped. Easy parking at Wordsworth Museum next door. Easy walk into Grasmere for shops,cafes and pubs. Fantastic walking from doorstep. Didn't use but there was also a regular bus going to other Lakeland villages

Lovely little cottage, perfect for two and a dog. Very clean and the bed was super comfortable! - Parking was very straightforward in the Wordsworth car park, and it's only a few steps away to the front door. - The Daffodil Hotel on the other side of the road have a lovely view of the lake, perfect to walk the dog in the morning. - Water was always nice and hot at the end of a long day. - House in walking distance to Grasmere centre. - The logs for the wood burner and the prosecco were a nice touch.

Lovely snug little cottage, perfectly located for Grasmere. A very peaceful location, but a quick 10 minute walk into town. Great kitchen with everything you need. The key box makes it very easy to check in and out.

I just came back from 4 nights at Poets Corner - it was just wonderful! The house was so peaceful and quiet, and in such a great spot for walking into town, and accessing a lot of the wainwrights as well. I didn’t need to use the car nearly the whole time I was there! All the amenities you’d need in a house, and the bed was super comfortable. Only thing that would have made it better is if the dogs had been allowed in the living room! Gutted I’ve had to leave, I am hoping to come back soon.

Just back from a lovely 3 night stay here! One thing that stood out was the fully equipped and also newly modernised kitchen that even had a slow cooker, small coffee machine, dog Bowls and mat. Bed was nice and comfy and had a perfect sized spot for the travel cot provided. We didn’t find the cottage straight away but that was because of just where it was down a very narrow lane. We noticed on previous reviews that there was not a parking space directly next to property, however this was not an issue for us as the car park was still very close and about a 30second walk in the museum car park. Location was great and was a 10 min walk into Grasmere, also close to the white moss walks which were beautiful

The property was perfectly located in Grasmere. Lots of walks right from the door. The cottage was characterful, yet practical as it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook each evening and the house warm and cosy. Loved the edition of the dog bits - towel, bowls and mat. The parking is not an issue as it is less than 50 metres away and always space. Thank you

Poets corner was an absolute delight. The house was so well thought out and has everything we needed for a great stay. Grasmere was an excellent base too with walks, restaurants and bars nearby. Walking from the door and seeing red squirrels was our highlight.

Beautiful little cottage right by William Wordsworths old house in the centre of beautiful Grasmere with nice walks from the house. Would highly recommend staying here. The only minor consideration is you are given a pass to park in the local car park - a 3 min walk, which was fine for me.

Great little holiday cottage, perfectly located for us to amble around Grasmere and it’s pubs as well as the surrounding walks with our dog. Was easy to check in and the cottage was pristine with a bottle of bubble to welcome us. Could not recommend more.

The chilled Proseco awaiting our arrival was a treat after a long drive. Lovely quirky cottage, patio catches the morning summer sun...ideal for late breakfast. Grasmere turned out to be an ideal location for exploring the lakes. And a nice selection of guide books on the bookshelf.

A lovely place in Grasmere. The place was spotless and there were lots of thoughtful touches like a bottle of Prosecco, a pint of milk and wood for the fire. We couldn’t have asked for any more. The village itself is beautiful with lots of great walks on your doorstep. Plenty of shops and cafes but not too busy.

Poets Corner is a fantastic base for exploring the Lake District. We loved the village of Grasmere, easy to walk to and had everything you needed. Great walking close by. Our favorite was climbing Helvellyn.
Guests should be aware that it is run by a holiday home rental company. Communication is during office hours which can be inconvenient if you need help in the evening. (there is an emergency number)

We spent a lovely week in this beautiful cottage - it's in a great location, very well furnished and had everything we needed. We used the parking permit to park in the nearby carpark, which was convenient and we had no problem bringing the car closer to the house to unload. The house was clean and cosy and we would recommend it for a stay in Grasmere.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Poets Corner! Perfect location for exploring straight from the doorstep. Walkable distance to cafes, restaurants and local shops. Small issue with the heating, but prompt response. Hopefully we will stay again soon!

Lovely cottage in a great location, smashing for dog owners as there are so many walks straight from the door and you can just leave the car. Nice and clean, lovely and warm and everything electrical worked well and were easy to use. All in all it was a fantastic stay and would definitely go again

Poets Corner is small but cosy and fine for a couple. Good location for walking to Grasmere and nice dog walks straight from the door. Car parking is in local public car park about 5 minutes walk away. We couldnt get parked here (no spaces) after going out one day so had to drive around looking for somewhere else then we had to move the car back to the public car park later. Bed is very comfortable but sofa is hard as it is a sofa-bed. Shower is a bit weak and kept falling out of the holder. Kitchen is well equipped. Little courtyard is pretty and very handy for letting the dog out for a wee. Nice selection of books, particularly dog walking guides.

We had an amazing stay at Poet's Corner, such a wonderful location, the perfect base to explore from, but also so cosy and well appointed that it was a home-from-home for us. Really appreciated the parking permit for Stock Lane, was very handy and only a short walk from the cottage. Everything was so nice inside and out, really clean and comfortable, we would highly recommend staying here!

Poets Corner is a perfect location for picturesque walks around the near by lakes, tarns & mountains. It is a comfortable retreat only a few moments walk from the centre of Grasmere. We really enjoyed our stay!

We stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend, The Poets Corner is a beautiful Cottage which has everything you could need for a getaway in the lakes. The location is superb, and its a 5 minute walk in to Grasmere and ideally placed to get around the whole region. The views are amazing all round. We will come back.

We had a lovely stay at Poets Corner and it was a really good base for walking and sightseeing. There are some great walks from the doorstep and Grasmere is such a picture perfect place with some great places to eat. Would definitely recommend staying at Poets.

Lovely scenic location in Grasmere, with parking a few minutes walk away. Lots of thoughtful touches with hikers and walkers in mind (drying rack and boot rack by the door, Lake District guides on the bookshelf, thermos flask in the kitchen). New kitchen and bathroom. The stairs are a little steep, and the lounge is upstairs. We were there in March and it was a little chilly (single glazing), but lots of blankets were provided. Very nice place base for a week in the Lakes!

We enjoyed a couples Christmas at the beautiful Poets Corner literally across the lane from Wordsworths Dove Cottage in the tiny hamlet of Grasmeres Townend. Lakeland Retreats has decorated it beautifully for Christmas including a tree! A bottle of fizz welcomed us and we had a lovely few days in the cosy cottage tucked away from the world but within a few steps of the lake and wonderful walking in the fells. The well equipped and sparkling clean kitchen enabled us to rustle up our Christmas dinner and we loved relaxing in the comfortable lounge reading books provided. After some serious fell walking from the door it was lovely to snuggle up and sleep so well in the sumptuous bed! There was even an electric boot drier! The perfect break in a perfect cottage, thank you Lakeland Retreats!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Poet's Corner. It was the perfect location for us to relax and enjoy some quiet time in the village of Grasmere, but also a great base to head out to surrounding villages/towns/lakes to explore! We travelled out of season (end of November) so there were many cafes/shops that were closed - but this didn't limit us at all. Enough places remained open, and in fact the out-of-season period likely made for a quieter break without busy crowds. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break away with all the comforts of home.

Good Afternoon,It was lovely feedback as follows.Fantastic updates to the cottage on this return. New additions into kitchen cupboards crockery pans etc. Pictures and tv updates which was fantastic. WiFi would be a fantastic addition to plan walks etc. We love the cottage and will be returning for a 5th time - as of 11th November - WiFi now installed.

We stayed at Poets Corner, Grasmere for a week recently and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is snug, well appointed and very clean. The managing agents, Lakeland Retreats (LR) were highly efficient with a swift and efficient booking process and confirmations etc., and during our stay. The previous occupants had inadvertently removed the parking permit, which was rectified by LR as swiftly as was possible in the circumstances. Likewise, a mechanical fault with the heating was responded to immediately and fixed. I am happy to recommend Lakeland Retreats to both guests and prospective landlords, alike. RG - November 2021
