Kick back and relax in the social living space with fabulous open fire

The open-plan living space at Pavement Cottage is homely, cosy, and blessed with an open fire, especially inviting after a day’s walking on the glorious surrounding fells. From the front, step into the entrance hall with slate flooring and through to the open plan living room/kitchen with comfortable furnishings, open fire and a useful selection of books, maps and tourist information. The well-equipped granite fitted kitchen is off the living area and leads to a secluded furnished courtyard. Dining takes place in the open-plan kitchen, but you’ll also be tempted to stroll out and sample the wide range of eateries close by.

Upstairs to the first floor and two stylish bedrooms; a double bedroom with en-suite shower room with shower cubicle, basin and WC and a pretty single bedroom offering flexible sleeping arrangements for you and your party – please note that the property has a strict maximum occupancy of 4 but you are welcome to use all three bedrooms. The modern, family bathroom has a powerful shower over the bath with basin and WC.

Steep stairs lead to the attic and second floor where you’ll find a comfortable king-size bedroom with a dormer window, some limited head height and exposed beams.

Outside, an enclosed courtyard garden with a table and chairs is just the spot for a morning coffee or pre-dinner aperitif.

Parking for one car is by way of the included permit for the nearby car parks. There is additional free overnight on-street parking available – further details upon booking.

Beautiful Victorian retreat for four, set in the heart of Ambleside

Pavement Cottage is a beautiful Victorian retreat enjoying a prime location in the heart of the popular village of Ambleside. Set in a quiet side lane with amenities just around the corner, Pavement Cottage was once the ‘bottling house’ of Ambleside’s Jackson Brewery. Carefully and successfully transformed into a stylish 21st-century holiday home and spread over 3 floors, Pavement Cottage provides superb facilities for a group of friends or family’s relaxing Lakeland break, whatever time of year you choose to visit.

Many customers choose self-catering accommodation in Ambleside for walking and activity-filled Lake District holidays, but it is also a great place to soak up the unique character and pace of this lively, Lakeland community. The village is well stocked with outdoor shops and walking information is widely available. Numerous famous routes begin close by and a wide range of walks take in breathtaking scenery without having to travel too far. Pretty shopping streets, traditional Lake District cottages and historic buildings nestled between high-quality eateries, Ambleside a firm favourite for foodies – enjoy a drink on the shores of the lake or in a traditional local pub before sampling some of our region’s finest dining, all just a stroll from the doorstep at Pavement Cottage.

Stayed for three nights. The location is the big selling point, right in the heart of Ambleside which is itself right in the heart of The Lkae District. Comfortable and reasonably well equipped. The parking is 5 minutes walk from the cottage, which may be an issue if you are less mobile. Would stay here again, which is always the acid test for me

Great location - restaurants, cinema, hiking / outdoors wear shops all within walking distance. Great walks and outdoor activities close by. We particularly enjoyed exploring the langdale valley.

We had a lovely stay at Pavement Cottage - it’s in a brilliant location close to everything Ambleside has to offer but in a little back street so nice and quiet. The cottage itself had everything we needed and well suited to a family of four. Just beware the sloping ceilings in the attic room if you’re particularly tall! Lots of great places to eat including BarEs Mexican tapas and Sheila’s Cottage - both only a few minutes walk away. Also loved Apple Pie Bakery and Dodd’s Italian restaurant. Lots of great walks in the area and easy access to Lake Windermere and boat trips. All in all a great stay.

Place was in a great location which provided us the ability to drive to other areas of the Lake District. The home was well stocked with everything we needed. The home is in a great area of the Ambleside allowing us to walk to many of the restaurants and cafes in the area. Would recommend to other people looking for a getaway in the Lake District.

Great location I'm the centre of Ambleside near all the best restaurants. Not noisy like I feared and big enough for the four of us for 10 days.

We had an excellent stay at Pavement Cottage. Everything was exactly as pictured. The location was excellent--truly so close to everything but right off the busy road. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything was clean and there was a lot of space. We were so glad we stayed here.

Pavement Cottage was a perfect place to base ourselves for a week in the Lakes. Very comfortable and well equipped. Walking distance to all of the amenities of Ambleside and to some lovely fell walks. Right in the heart of the Lakes, so easy access to all the area has to offer.

If you want an authentic cottage which is cosy, comfortable and has everything you could possibly need, then this is the cottage for you. Absolutely delightful. Close to Ambleside centre but on a lovely quiet little lane and within easy walking distance of some of the local beauty spots including Stock Ghyll Waterfall - stunningly beautiful - Rydal Cave - eerily pre-historic, but fabulous - and of course Waterhead Pier where you catch all the ferries for the Lake tours. Perfect.

Great Central location in Ambleside access to shops, bars, and restaurants. The cottage is on a side street though so nice and quiet. If you want to stay in the cottage has everything you need for cooking and staying in. Additionally, nice touches like tea thermos flasks plus lots of maps for your walks.
