Modern Cottage Retreat Set At The Gateway To The Langdale Valley

Number One is accessed from the rear at lower ground level where you’ll find a handy hallway with plenty of hanging space for all your walking equipment and space to securely store your bikes and other outdoor gear. There’s also a cloakroom with basin and WC. An open tread spiral staircase leads up to the main living area with modern oak flooring and tasteful décor throughout; comprising of a well fitted, modern kitchen dining area to the rear, and lounge dining room to the front with the comfortable sofas arranging around the wood burning stove.

Stairs to the first floor lead to two bedrooms, one king-size and a twin, both sharing in a fully tiled and modern bathroom with shower over a P-shaped deep bath, basin, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside, there’s that all-important private parking space for one car with the possibility of parking a second, smaller vehicle alongside the property or to the front if carefully parked. There is even a charging point for electric vehicles! The local bus route passes the door if you fancy a trip into nearby Ambleside or Coniston and you’re within a stone’s throw of Wainwright’s Bar and the handy Co-op village store.

Excellent location for Langdale and Ambleside. Warm, clean & comfortable. All facilities (including a top end de'Longhi coffee machine) provided. Good local pub and shop 5 minutes walk away. Perfect for lakeland walks from the doorway.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and well presented. We have been visiting the Lake District for the last 15 years and this was the first time staying in the Langdales, it’s beautiful and the cottage was definitely one of the best we’ve stayed in. We will 100% be returning.

Number One is a great base for a week in the Lakes. Not only is it an amazing place with everything you could possibly need, you have Wainwrights and the Britannia Inn on your doorstep for great food and all the walks right from your door. Our second visit and we’ll be back next year. Highly recommend.

lovely place. very clean and tidy. they had an electric car charger which they let us use at an additional cost. the accommodation was in a lovely location with lots of local walks. it is over 3 levels with narrow spiral stairs which was a little difficult as we had our child with us.

Michelle’s house at Thrang Briw, Chapel Stile was the perfect location for exploring the central Lakes and beyond. The house itself was tastefully decorated, modern and equipped with everything we needed for our week long stay. I thoroughly recommend it.

The house was lovely, well equipped abs close to the shop, cafe and pub. The house has everything as advertised. It was brilliant for walking to places like Grasmere, Slater's bridge, Cathedral caves and lots of other lovely walks. It is within short driving distances of Ambleside, Brockhole, and Bowness for more active activities. A lovely house and village to be based in.

We really enjoyed our week stay as a family at the cottage. It was very clean, equipped with a nice kitchen, bathroom and lounge, as well as lots of room to wash and dry our wet weather gear. The cottage location was perfect - set overlooking the hills, along a quiet road, with walks, local shop and pub all in walking distance. In the surrounding area (Ambleside, Windermere etc) there was plenty to do both on good and bad weather days. We found it a perfect base to explore beautiful Lakeland and a very reasonable holiday home.
