Superb property in a superb location - spacious, uncluttered, well equipped property in a rural location. While we were only 3, six people in the property would not feel crowded. Two living rooms, both with TV, meant you could spread out and cover all those viewing conficts (Euros vs Love Island!). The location could not be better. Apparently isolated, very close to Rydal Water, but a very good pub within 200 yards and two tea shops (Rydal Hall and Rydal Mount) not much further away. With Dora's Field and Rydal Mount jut across the way, Wordsworth is on tap!

This is a nice cottage in a great location. It’s a short distance north of Ambleside, so easy to get to, whilst giving access to some great walks in the Grasmere / Rydal / Ambleside area. The road outside can get busy with walkers at the weekend, but just shows how good a location it is. Having Rydal Water on the doorstep meant we had some great walks with the dog early in the morning and evening when it’s quiet, whilst the nearby Badgers Bar gives a good option for food and drink, although we also walked into Ambleside a couple of times and would recommend Zeffirelli’s. The cottage itself has all you need. The main bedroom and lounge in the modern extension are very comfortable and of a high standard. The snug gives a good alternative and we often found ourselves sitting there in the evening. The kitchen is getting a bit tired (the cutlery drawer fell apart during our stay), and does need updating, whilst some of its contents are of basic quality. The garden is well kept and we enjoyed sitting out watching the birds. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back.

This is a great cottage in a great location. Whilst it is in a seemingly very quiet spot there is something of a buzz with walkers passing the windows throughout the day. Let down somewhat by the tired kitchen (hence the 4-star rating), the quality of beds and shower/bathroom facilities is excellent. The triple aspect lounge/diner is great for relaxation and the snug, quaint for moments of solitude. The garden is well kept and with quality garden furniture is a pleasure to sit-in. The proximity to Rydal Water, where we swam regularly, and the Badgers Bar, a great place to eat, add to the delight of this place. Would we stay here again? We have already booked for September next year....................................

It is absolutely amazing. We couldn’t really fault the cottage. The only improvement I would suggest is to improve the outside lighting but this is just an observation. We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage is by far the best we have stayed in. We will most definitely look at booking again this year. Thank you from David and Mandy.

Cracking location for everyone who wants to experience the Lakes. Accessibility for Rydal cave is great with just a 10 min walk up the road. Cote How is in great proximity to Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick. Cote How was a lovely place to come back to after a long day out. We enjoyed itso much so that we’re looking to book again for next year!

We had a lovely time at 1 Cote Howe. Accommodation was lovely, especially the comfy beds. The cool front room became a haven during the heatwave! It is in a beautiful setting and only a short walk to Rydal Water which we loved being able to swim in. Our only gripe was the gardens weren’t completely secure for the dogs so we had to put a makeshift gate out of some odd bits of wood we found. We did however enjoy sitting in the garden and in the evenings especially, with drinks before dinner. The only other issue I would like to mention was that we weren’t told about the building work that was taking place next door. The builders were very friendly but there was some noise coming from the work being done. So a little more communication would have been nice.

The location of the cottage was great, as was the cottage itself. Just what we needed for a few days holiday in the Lakes. We can highly recommend the Badgers Bar for meals & atmosphere – staff were very welcoming.

A lovely cosy cottage in a quiet and tucked away location but only a 5 min drive to Ambleside. Three bathrooms is useful for three couples and 2 lounges was another bonus of space for everyone to relax in. Great walks from the doorstep including Rydal Cave, Loughrigg and Grassmere. We will definitely book Cote Howe again.

Fantastic, spacious house in a brilliant location. Can walk out of the door and straight onto a short walk to Rydal Lake and caves. 5 minute drive into Ambleside where there are a number of pubs, restaurants and shops. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here in the future.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and very cozy, you can step out of the door and walk your dogs for miles across the stunning countryside. Lots of places to eat at Ambleside which is a 5 minute drive, but you can also walk which takes around 40 minutes. An absolutely stunning cottage with beautiful surroundings. Thank you for making our Christmas 2021. Tam & Mark

Great cottage to explore Rydal Ambleside, Grasmere. We loved the modern, clean rooms with all amenities and welcome Prosecco. Was 5 mins to Rydal water and access to Loughrigg Fell. Wish we had more days and would love to return. Made our birthday celebration extra special. Highly recommended.

A real little gem! Lovely cottage in a beautiful location right by Rydal water. Lots of really good walks from the doorstep, which the dogs loved. There is a pub only a few minutes walk away and shops nearby in Ambleside and Windermere. There was so much to see and do that we did not fit everything in. We will definitely be back again. Thanks for a great stay.

The location is great. A few minutes walk from the door sees you onto Rydal water or heading up Loughrigg fell. Ambleside is easy to get to should you need to and the house has plenty of space, a garden with a top view and has good facilities.

Superb from start to finish. It was our first trip to the lakes with our 2 year old and some friends and their 9 month old and we couldn’t have had a more perfect stay. Michelle and Gerry were so accommodating. Answered any queries we had and were very quick at responding. The location couldn’t have been anymore ideal. Pub a stones throw away and walks and bike rides on the doorstep! We will be staying again!

A really lovely cottage in the best possible location. Charming and comfortable cottage which comfortably accommodated 6 adults. Only a few minutes walk to Rydal Lake where we watched the sun go down. Fabulous walks in literally every direction. Tiny little gripe with the skylight in the main bedroom that would benefit from a blind. We really loved our stay and will definitely be back.

“Such a wonderful cottage in an excellent location. It’s conveniently located in the heart of The Lakes with Ambleside & Grasmere being only a few minutes drive away. Every room is spacious and comfortable. There’s a pleasant pub only 2 minutes walk away. Space for 2 vehicles. Garden is technically secure but a dog could escape if they really tried. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone :)”
