CHARACTERFUL ACCOMMODATION OFFERING AFFORDABLE COMFORT FOR A LAKELAND FAMILY HOLIDAY

A small covered entrance porch to the front leads into a hallway from where sits the comfortable sitting room to your right with smart TV, and open fireplace. To the left of the hallway sits a large, newly fitted oak kitchen wrapped in quality granite surfaces and equipped with a good range of appliances. A dining table sits at the other end of the room next to the window looking down towards Smithy Brow, a great place to enjoy a family brunch or evening meal together. A handy utility with basin and WC sits off the hallway and there’s also direct access into the garage from the kitchen.

A curved staircase leads to the first-floor accommodation where you’ll find a choice of four spacious bedrooms: one double, one twin and two singles, an ideal configuration for a family group. The bedrooms share in a modern house bathroom with a deep bath, separate shower cubicle and basin. There’s a separate WC next door. Outside, parking is either in the garage for one small car or directly outside of the cottage on the street.

There’s a small patio area behind Hillside Cottage reached by way of a few steps (take care in the wet) with bench seating provided. The garden is shared between three properties so we kindly ask that you accompany your dog at all times and clean up any mess.

TRADITIONAL COTTAGE SET IN A QUIET, CONSERVATION AREA OF AMBLESIDE

Perched at the top of the affectionately known Peggy Hill, a quaint and ancient conservation area of Ambleside, sits the aptly named Hillside Cottage. One of a cluster of attractive, traditional cottages built along an L-shaped terrace, the location is perfect for your friend or family group to access all that this vibrant village has to offer. The emphasis here is very much on home from home comfort for you and all of your party and of course, those tempting views that can be enjoyed from the front down over Smithy Brown and towards Loughrigg Fell beyond.

Ambleside is a stone’s throw away, brimming with interesting galleries, outdoor shops, cafes, bars and restaurants to suit every palate and pocket. If you’re an adventurous group, there are a large selection of fantastic activities to enjoy and plenty of room in the garage to store your paddleboards, bikes and other outdoor equipment.

We had the most lovely stay at Hillside Cottage, it's a beautiful house (even nicer, more spacious, cosier & more characterful than the photos show), it's in a perfect location central in beautiful Ambleside with easy parking/ & access, great to have extra storage with access to the garage, all the local amenities & pubs on the doorstep & it has just been a joy to call our home for a week. Thanks so much for letting us stay - we'll definitely be back if you let us : )

Great location. All Ambleside's amenities were just a couple of minutes walk away, as well as the ability to walk into nature. Plenty of places to eat as well. Lovely cottage too. Had everything we needed in comfort and everything was spotless and well looked after.

We had a lovely week at the cottage. It was spacious and an easy walk down into Ambleside itself. The kitchen had everything we need, and it was very clean. The TV is also updated since the pictures (not that we used it!)

Wonderful stay at this cottage. It Has everything you could need for a comfortable, clean and warm stay. Plenty of space, right in the heart of Ambleside. A real find ! Also two parking spaces and a garage which are hard to come by especially in Ambleside. Had a great stay as a family of 5 with a toddler and the dogs. Would definitely stay again. Easy communication with any questions etc and Lovely touch left of milk/eggs/bread and jam. Thank you !

Hillside is perfectly located for exploring the lakes and easy for walking into the village for the pubs and restaurants. The accommodation has all the amenities that you need and the furniture is in keeping with the period of the cottage. The only down side is the shower is a little bit small and not much parking available if your group has more than one car due to the central location but overall a very good place to stay and will visit again.

Myself and 4 friends stayed at Hillside Cottage and had an amazing stay! Communication before check-in was great and had no issues getting to and into the property. The cottage looked exactly like the photos, and was very clean. Although some of the furniture has been described as 'outdated' on other reviews, this added to the charm and although a bit old fashioned were very clean too. Bedrooms were spacious and had everything you needed, beds comfy and very easy to sleep in. The description mentioned one bathroom but we were pleased to see two toilets (one downstairs and one upstairs) and an additionally bathroom with a shower and bath. The location is great if you want to get to Ambleside/Windermere and the neighbouring areas. Kitchen had everything we needed (except for maybe teabags/coffee) so we ended up getting our own and there wasn't shower gel in the bathroom but again, we brought our own. Some previous reviews had mentioned a welcome basket but there wasn't one for our visit, but we just assumed that this was no longer a thing and wasn't an issue. Would recommend friends and family to stay here and we would definitely consider coming back if we were in the area again.

Excellent location, good size bedrooms and decent kitchen & bathroom. Only negative was the age & condition of some of the furnishings, I know it’s an old house & they want to keep its character but the living room in particular does need updating, feels a little dingy. We had a lovely stay though it had everything we needed and was value for money in peak season.

This is a great spot. Ambleside is a pretty town and the house is literally a 2 minute walk from the centre. The place is clean and tidy and we would definitely stay again if returning to the area. Communication with the host was easy and they were always willing to help. They dropped round a travel-cot after business hours when we asked and when we checked out we forgot to pack something and they were happy to post it back to us.

Well equipped 4 bedroom cottage in the heart of Ambleside (-yet quiet and with 2 car parking spaces!). The interior, pictures and furnishings are quite dated but i think it adds to the charm of the place. It’s got a terraced garden, washing m/c, Smart TV, Wi-fi, etc. Perfect for a family and it’s dog friendly too. Definitely recommend.
