BOASTING FABULOUS VIEWS OF THE FELLS AND ADORNED WITH EXPOSED BEAMS

A perfect piece of calm, somewhere special to relax, unwind and spend precious time together. Magnificent cruck beams are proudly displayed throughout the apartment and large picture windows and skylights allow the light to flood through and give way to wonderful views of the fells.

Nestled behind her larger, Grade II listed neighbour, Hawkshead Hideaway and accessed via a private, well-tended garden by way of an external wooden staircase (do take care in wet and icy weather).

Once inside, the accommodation is all on one level, the entrance hall offering plenty of space for hanging your outdoor equipment. The large, loft-style open-plan living space has large windows to soak up the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and fells beyond.

A well-equipped kitchen has everything you’ll need to properly self-cater if you choose, the dining area enjoys beautiful views being placed in front of the window. Deep cushioned sofas are perfect for snuggling on in front of the TV.

Light floods through the romantic king-size bedroom dressed with a quality mattress and linens to ensure a restful sleep. The large shower room has a powerful shower to help soothe your muscles after a hard day on the fells.

Outside, a well-tended wall garden has furniture provided, and private parking is available for one car behind Roger Ground House.

ROMANTIC HIDEAWAY FOR TWO SET IN THE HEART OF BEATRIX POTTER TERRITORY

Nestled in the idyllic hamlet of Roger Ground, our cosy hideaway is just a ten-minute, leisurely, traffic-free stroll away from the heart of picturesque Hawkshead. Legend has it that our hamlet was named after a beloved parish priest, Roger, who made his home here in the 1600s. The cobbled square and ginnels of the village are lined with whitewashed cottages, interesting galleries and tea rooms and several traditional Inns.

The local Co-op supermarket is well stocked for your day-to-day supplies and a larger selection of shopping can be found in nearby Ambleside, just 5 miles away. Hawkshead Hideaway can be let in conjunction with her sister property to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Will and myself really enjoyed our stay at the Hawkshead Hideaway over New Year. The hideaway was very peaceful and cozy with the village just around the corner with some great restaurants/pubs. Didn't need to use the car once throughout our stay. There were so many walks on the doorstep to take in the breathtaking countryside. I would definitely recommend staying here to be in the mids of the lake District and to enjoy to nature surrounding it.

We had a lovely stay at Hawkshead Hideaway. Such a beautiful place with old beams and really nice cosy living space. Very handy for Hawkshead as you can walk on a path through the fields to the village which has some lovely shops and pubs (plus a co-op). Would definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawkshead Hideaway, fantastic location, full of character, well equipped, great restaurants within walking distance, responsive host, easy check in. Easy to get to Esthwaite Water, Coniston and Windermere as well as Wray Castle and Ambleside. Hawkshead is a beautiful village with a great bus service. Highly recommend Billy's Barr restaurant and Poppy Red Bistro for fantastic food and great service. Would highly recommend Hawkshead Hideaway, great base to explore from.

Lovely peaceful hideaway. Flat is well equipped. Lots of pamphlets/booklets provided with local info. Great view of the landscape from the lounge window. Easy stroll down to Hawkshead village via the footpath at the back of the property. Two good pubs in the village - but do book to eat at both. Billy’s restaurant is also good, although more pricey. Fantastic local scenery - plenty of places to explore. The turning to the Hideaway was tricky to spot, but once you’ve found it, getting access is easy. We had the best week there, but we were extremely lucky with the weather! We’d never been to The Lakes before. We were SO impressed. Stunning location.

The hideaway’s location was perfect, very peaceful and quiet with amazing views. Warm and comfortable especially the bed and sofa. Well equipt and loved the little radio. Played Trivial Pursuit every night. The slabs before the first metal gate were so slippy. Other than that the gardens were beautiful. Thank you for the lovely gifts and milk.

Had a lovely few days here. Ticked every box. Easy parking. Fabulous enclosed garden which isla loved 🐾 the views from the lounge are something else ❤️. Cosy, comfortable and the little homely touches made for a wonderful stay. Was worried about the outside steps as I haven’t a head for heights but I didn’t need to worry they felt very safe. Will book again.

The location was out of this world, absolutely beautiful surroundings and walks accessible from the door step. The small town is stunning and we really enjoyed the history of the flat and surrounds. The flat was very well equipped with cooker microwave dishwasher and utensils. The coffee machine was a bonus. Great stay overall.

Fantastic location for walking right from the door. The place was very clean and tidy, beautifully decorated and lots of info on the area to hand. The view from the lounge window was spectacular and we loved gazing over to the mountains in the evening. There is a very short walk across the field footpath into Hawkshead which was handy. We had bikes with us and it was easy to keep them locked up under the steps up to the upper barn. There was a very generous welcome pack for us when we arrived, we will certainly look to go back here again.

It seems like this cottage is located in the absolute center of the Lake District: you could hike to a couple of lakes right from the doorstep (Tarn How, Windermere,...). Hawskhead turned out to be the most perfect village; it was small, but everything's there, and most importantly, it was a pleasant place to walk around in. The cottage is a bit on the small side, but it's perfect for 2. And if the weather is as great as it was when we were there, you're outside all the time anyway :)

Lovely little place a short walk from Hawkshead and a good location for places on Windermere & Coniston. The apartment was clean and well equipped, and nice and quiet except for the fire alarm which seems to be linked to the one in the main building - got a very loud wake up call seemingly because of some burnt toast downstairs! The shower is better than mine at home, which I always appreciate when going away. WiFi was okay when it worked, but there were long periods in the evening where it was spotty wouldn't connect at all. Overall a great place to stay in a very nice rural location, but still with many of the conveniences of home.

My stay at the Hideaway was great. Really nice flat with awesome views out over the hills. Only a short stroll into Hawkshead so you don't have to pay for parking. Quick drive up into the forest. Nice and private. Good amenities provided. Would recommend.

Simply lovely Literally just what the doctor ordered. Quiet but handy location. Good facilities , beams could be an issue especially in the bathroom but did not detract from a lovely stay. The addition of a beautiful garden was a bonus

A fabulous apartment, with wonderful views, within walking distance of Hawkshead. The apartment was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. We loved waking up to the fantastic views of the mountains. You can walk from the door to Tarn Hows, Wray Castle, Esthwaite Water and many more locations. The apartment has a gorgeous cottage garden and from the garden gate you can walk through the fields into Hawkshead and avoid the road. There is a high quality of fixture and fittings, and everything is provided for right down to binoculars and a bird spotting book. We have now had 2 wonderful stays here and look forward to returning later in the year.
