Gingerbread Nook was a lovely little home away from home, perfectly clean and just like its photos. It was handy to local or more ambitious walks, and great shops and restaurants, but also perfect for self-catering. We would definitely stay again!

Michelle's flat was great - beautifully decorated, really clean and tidy and very comfortable. The location was ideal for walking and also for getting to other lovely walking spots. We had some lovely meals and would highly recommend the Jumble Room.

Great location right in the centre of Grasmere with Gingerbread Nook overlooking the village green and access is from the rear of the building which includes an allocated parking spot. That area provides parking for roughly five other holiday lets and when fully occupied proved quite tight for manoeuvring in and out so care is definitely required. Access to Gingerbread Nook is then via a stairway from the parking area up to the first floor level so anyone with mobility problems might struggle. Upon entering being greeted with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch and much appreciated. The apartment itself is very contemporary which definitely suited our taste and provides more than enough space for two people to live comfortably. It was spotlessly clean throughout with a kitchen area superbly equipped for self catering. The bedroom is a good size and nicely appointed although a bit of a squeeze and shuffle to get between the bottom end of the bed frame and the bedroom wall. Bathroom is an adequate size and again well appointed with a powerful shower within a good sized cubicle. So all things considered Gingerbread Nook was a great choice and definitely gets a thumbs up in terms of location, quality of accommodation and cleanliness, only tempered somewhat by the potentially awkward parking.

I can really recommend Michelle’s apartment. Right in the centre of Grasmere it’s perfectly located as well as modern, super clean and tastefully furnished. I only had one tiny problem in the week with the hot water but Michelle and her team were amazing. I had a reply to my query within the hour and the problem sorted soon after. Thank you very much. Our stay here was fantastic. We used this host again having used them last year during a stay in Ambleside. We couldn’t have been happier. The flat was modern and clean with a well stocked kitchen and the location was great for local walks. Would highly recommend the local Yan restaurant for a roast dinner.

Gingerbread Nook was perfect for our long weekend break. It was a clean, tidy and cosy space where we could relax after a long day exploring the Lakes. As one of us is on a special diet, it was nice to be able to go away for the weekend and not have to worry about meals - the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare food, but it was close enough to a selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs when we did want to eat out. The location was fantastic - a couple of minutes walk from the famous Gingerbread Shop, as well as many other gift shops - we even stumbled upon a Craft Fair in the village while out wandering, which was lovely. There was a little gift waiting for us as we came through the door, as well as a nice warm lounge which was very welcome after a day travelling in the cold and the rain. The view, when we opened the curtains the next morning was stunning! The bed was comfy, and there was ample storage space for our clothes, bags and shopping. Thanks for a great weekend.

Lovely flat in an ideal location to explore Grasmere’s beautiful surroundings. So many great hikes nearby, lovely pubs, Gramere itself is big enough to be convenient but not so busy as Ambleside and Windermere, and more picturesque. You wouldn’t need to drive anywhere if you didn’t want to. Flat is modern and bright and right in the centre, easy parking too. Perfect stay, would definitely return!

Really enjoyed our stay here! The apartment was quite bijoux, but perfect for 2, and well appointed - it had all the appliances etc that we needed, even a dishwasher! The rainfall shower was just blissful! We couldn't fault the location - right in the heart of Grasmere village, which served as a base for some great walks. Particularly enjoyed the walk to Easedale Tarn (and we came back a slightly different way which passed streams and a waterfall and lots of Herdwick Sheep!). Also Dove Cottage and newish visitor centre/exhibition is a must see (one of the homes of William Wordsworth and his family) which is within walking distance from the apartment. There are lots of tearooms/cafes also on the doorstep and some nice shops. Oh and not forgetting the Gingerbread shop! (yum). The apartment is managed by a small company who were great at answering any questions we had quickly. We would love to return here one day! Thank you!

Fantastic little flat very very clean and to a high quality, loved it. Only thing i would say was the bedroom could do with some black-out curtains as the sun comes in through the blinds very early. But all perfect. Thank you!

Just spent a week in Gingerbread Nook ( May 2022) and what a delight ! Had previously stayed in 2019 and has been completely modernised into a lovely bright and stylish apartment. Lovely central position looking out over the square in Grasmere . Spotlessly clean when arrived with a welcome bottle of Prosecco and milk in fridge. Cleverly thought out apartment which caters for all your needs. All kitchen appliances & utensils you would need & more ! Very good power shower. Very large & comfy bed. and living room area is great space to relax . Had no issues with parking at back but then most of other flats were not occupied and the cafe below was only open once on the week. Great holiday let that I will definitely stay in again & would recommend to all for a stay in the Lakes . Well done !

This is a great location in the heart of Grasmere village. The lounge has open aspect and you can see the hills perfect for morning yoga. The property is a lovely apartment with comfy sofa and seat. Well appointed kitchenette. Good shower. One note for memory foam lovers the bed has a sprung mattress. Please check location with the host as it had correct street on but map took me to another property. I would highly recommend this property and the general area. One thing to check out is the regular and cheap bus services which are really helpful and meant we didn’t use the car. Trips to Easdale tarn and Grasmere lake recommended locally.

Had a magical Christmas at Gingerbread Nook for our honeymoon. Gorgeous apartment and fab location. Managed to get out for a walk every day. The coffin route to Rydal, The Coves and back over Loughrigg Terrace was nice, as was Easedale Tarn, but the most spectacular was Alcock Tarn, amazing views!
Sadly, a lot of the cafes and restaurants were closed for much of our stay, so we'll have to come back!

Grasmere is an ideal place to base yourself during a stay in the lakes. Multiple walks right from your doorstep. Easy walk to Ambleside. Regular and reliable bus on the main road if you were not wanting to drive. Parking space is so handy at the property in a private courtyard. Would recommend you keep the email to hand with the instructions on how to find the property and then its so easy to find. Property has everything you need and kept to a very high standard! There is also a communal washer and dryer if you were to need it. Welcome pack is in the apartment full of useful info about the property. Was lovely to arrive to a nice treat of some fizz! Communication was quick and easy and everyone is very helpful. We will definitely look to book other properties with this Lakeland Retreats!

Just got back from a great week in Gingerbread Nook. A perfect place in a perfect location for 2 people. We did wonder on arrival if it might be noisy at night being so central but that wasn't the case at all. We used the bus on our last day to go to Ambleside and walked back over Loughrigg Fell and Silver Howe which worked very well. We'll definitely be back and will make more use of this excellent local bus service.

This really is a stunning apartment in a perfect location overlooking the village green. I loved sitting in the armchair watching the world go by, with a cup of tea and some grasmere gingerbread after a day of walking the fells. The layout and decor is beautifully done given the small space.The whole apartment feels light and spacious. We would highly recommend this property. Our top tip would be the Easedale Tarn walk which starts outside the property. An hour to the tarn and an hour back with opportunities to swim in the waterfall pools and the tarn itself. The perfect Lakes experience.

What an amazing place this is! We thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Very lovely walks around and a cosy flat to stay in on a heavy rain day. Great memories for our honeymoon!
