Had a really nice few nights here , place is clean and tidy and they have really made the most out of the space. you are in the heart of Ambleside and a short drive to Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere. Only thing to note is the property does not have parking , a car parking pass is provided for the property for nearby car parks, the closest being a 2 minute walk away , but these car parks can be very busy and you may need to be prepared to walk 5 or 10 minutes back to the cottage. Overall a very nice stay and would not hesitate to stay again.

A well-presented cosy one-bed cottage with all mod cons including a good speed wi-fi. The location is off the busy main road so traffic noise is quiet at night. It’s conveniently close to the town centre and even closer to buses which will take you round the lakes. There are detailed instructions on use of the facilities and plenty of local information leaflets and maps. Ours was a walking holiday and there are plently of spectacular circular walks from Ambleside itself, one which basically sets off from the front door. The cottage was always a pleasure to come back to after a long day’s outing.

We're were lucky enough to be able to stay at Gale Lodge Stables for a few snowy days in January. On our arrival we were greeted by a beautiful, warm and well appointed cottage. Our first impressions held throughout our visit, we had everything we needed and were able to relax and enjoy our break. The cottage is well located near the centre of Ambleside and the bus terminal is a short walk away, allowing easy access to Grasmere, Hawkshead to name a few. We would highly recommend Gale Lodge Stables, we'll definitely be returning, and would rate our stay as five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage - we couldn’t fault it at all! Everything was pristine, amenities are everything you’d need, perfect location, and most of all we felt at home! Both of us hadn’t visited the Lakes since we were young and this trip made us fall in love with it all over again! Loved it that much that we asked to extend our stay and it’s already been passed onto 3 of our friends as a recommendation. We will 100% be returning, thank you for having us!

Great home in the centre of Ambleside. Perfect location to start your walk from. Attention to detail was great, lovely wood burning stove and bathhouse toiletries to treat us after a long walk! We would love to stay again in the future.

We enjoyed a weekend away in this modern yet cosy accommodation. Ambleside centre is literally a minute walk away, the included car park pass was very useful both for Ambleside and local car parks for walks. Have already recommended to friends and will be a regular visitor to the Stables!

It was a beautiful, clean place in a great location. Our hosts left us detailed instructions for the home, as well as some useful leaflets on things to do in Ambleside and surrounding areas. Shops and restaurants were only a short walking distance away and there were some great walking routes in the area.

We have had a wonderful time staying at Gale Lodge Stables. We felt very at home in the cottage, and loved how convenient it is for going into Ambleside town centre for meals or shopping. Ambleside is also very well located for walks/climbing the fells/wild swimming etc - you can access all of the popular Lakeland towns very easily either by car or by bus. The cottage itself is well equipped and very comfortable. We would recommend it and can’t wait to go back!

Recently visited Gale Lodge Stables as a family with one toddler and it was perfect for what we needed. All the equipment we needed to eat in was available and there was more space than we expected for all of us. Travel cot and high chair (chair that attached to dining chairs) were made available for us with plenty of space to have the child in the bedroom with us. The 1 year old did want to climb up and down the spiral stairs so any visiting children must be watched at all times! The location was perfect, able to walk to shops in 2 minutes and plenty of walks available from the front door. Parking was easy with the pass that was available to us in the property, we managed to get a space in the Lake Road car park which is really close to the property. We didn’t travel by car whilst we were there, instead used the buses. We will definitely be back to stay again, we can’t wait to explore more of the area!

It was a wonderfully comfortable stay. The quality of the accommodation and the finishing touches is of an excellent standard and the location couldn’t be better. Parking is straightforward due to the permit the Stables enjoys and the privacy and quiet was a nice surprise considering the central location of the Stables. I would commend the Stables as an excellent choice for any length of stay.

A hassle free stay in the recently refurbed cottage. Pristine condition, modern and tastefully decorated. Everything you would need, 2 sitting areas with a log burner. Felt like a enough space for us as a couple. Great location for the town. 5 mins to literally everything.
