We have stayed in Field Cottage before and as before we found the cottage immaculate, stocked with tea coffee milk and to cap it off a very nice bottle of wine . The garden is well maintained and with garden furniture the surroundings are beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful holiday .

The family really enjoyed your cottage away from the busy Ambleside It was very cosy with the log fire and the garden for dog to have fun in The only one thing was the the shared driveway , the other people staying in other cottage kept leaving the gate open I had keep closing it The bedrooms were super comfortable with lovely bed linen Easy access to Wry castle Hawkshead and other parts of the lakes

Fabulous property. Well located and plenty of room downstairs. Slate floors made it easier with the dogs. Not cold at all. Hive heating cuts in well after the log burner goes out. Constant hot water makes showers and baths more accessible The dressing area is a lovely addition. Lakeland retreats were very quick to rectify any small problems we had. Great parking and easilly accessible. Fabulous location for local walks. No information in property for these so research may be required. All In all a fabulous property and Lakeland were very helpful when needed. Thankyou

Lovely stay at Field Cottage, thank you! House is in a great location and has everything you need. Kitchen is v well equipped. Also impressed with the standard of cleanliness. Team v responsive too, we ran out of logs for the wood burner after the first night and someone kindly dropped off some more the following day which was much appreciated. Only major drawback is the quality of the mattresses, we could see this was first flagged in 2017 in the visitors book. The double bed mattress in particular is extremely hard. A compromise solution might be to provide a padded mattress protector. It’s the only thing that really lets the cottage down and would make us think twice before booking again which is a real shame.

This cottage is in a great location, not only for touring the Lakes as a whole but also for local walking and visits to local attractions. You do not have to travel at all far from here to fill a 7-day break. The accommodation itself is ok, nothing special, and the single beds are basic and squeaky. The kitchen is pretty well equipped although lacking in glass dishes/pots suitable for microwave cooking. Note also that there are not just 2 holiday cottages here (those managed by Lakeland Retreats). I did not determine exactly how many but there were at least 4 possibly 5. The property served a purpose and I would suggest reasonably priced for what it is. Would I stay here again? 'No', if I was seeking luxury, but 'yes' if I was seeking a 'bolthole'. If you are looking for luxury consider Pullwood Bay, especially the apartments, just a stones throw further on the road from Ambleside to Hawkshead. I have stayed there for 5 years successively and love it!

Very well located for walks in the beautiful Langdales (the path in front of the house takes you right up the side of Windermere and there’s another walk from the back garden) and a range of great pubs nearby. It is on a road but it is not intrusive. Great views over the fells from the main bedroom. Lovely slate floors downstairs, lots of character.

Cottage is well located for visiting Windermere, Grasmere and Elter Water. Cottage is comfortably furnished and the compact kitchen has all the essentials you need. A couple of rugs on the floor would have been nice to soften the slate floors, particularly for winter visitors.

The cottage is lovely and has everything you need for your stay. It's a really comfy and cosy place to be. There is a great choice of walks directly from the cottage and its close drive to lots of interesting villages ad activities. The cottage was really clean and had plenty of space for our family of 3 and a dog. The team were also great at providing us with a highchair when I hadn't requested one.

Lovely cottage, simply and very tastefully furnished, and a comfortable and convenient base to explore the Lakes. A couple of small maintenance issues were very quickly rectified by Lakeland Retreats, and the staff are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The only downside was the road noise, especially in the morning - at night, though, it was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Because there was nobody staying in the next door cottage I was able to close the gate so my dog was safe to have a wander around the garden without risk of him straying onto the busy road. The views from the front and side of the cottage are lovely, I saw some beautiful sunsets. My Collie and I had a lovely stay, thank you.

This is a great place to stay. Excellent location for exploring by bike or trekking and a short drive to Ambleside or supermarket in Windemere. The cottage itself is well equiped, cosy and has all the amenities you need for and comfortable stay. The TV entertainment system is great for days when you're not able to go out and about and the cottage can easily accommodate four adults or a family of four in one double and one twin bed room.

A gorgeous cozy cottage in a wonderful location perfect for shopping, pass driving and fell walking - not to mention the 'sitting in front of the logburnering!' Seems very well run by a friendly team. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are quite different in size so definitely suits a couple, a family with children or like us we travelled with my mum who was very comfortable in the twin room alone. We had, quite simply, a wonderful lakeland week.

Very nice, well-equipped cosy cottage. Three of us (including our dog) had a lovely and relaxing time. Everything was as described. Clean and convenient. :) A path behind the cottage was perfect for a morning walk with my dog (but with lead because there are deers and many sheep). It’s a walkable distance to Ambleside town - about half an hour and then you can avoid the car park fee. We struggled a bit to find the cottage with the postcode because it covers a relatively large area - might need to slow down to see the name of cottages then it’s not difficult to find.

A cosy well equipped cottage ideal for a short stay. The cottage provided a great base for walking and cycling. Dog friendly too which is a plus for us however non dog owners can be assured that the cottage has an exceptional level of cleanliness. The Drunken Duck is a short walk away and well worth a visit.

Great stay at this cottage. Plenty of walks around the cottage- main track from Ambleside to Hawkshead outside the front of cottage and paths to Skelwith Bridge and beyond out the back door. Lovely, clean cottage and relaxing space with delightful views. Loved the main bedroom nook and window ledges for a reading area and views after a long walk. Perfect cottage for the family and especially the four-legged ones! Thanks to Lakeland Retreats for a great, friendly service and answering all my questions! Would stay at this cottage again, totally recommended property and company.

We had a fantastic break here- appreciated even more after the last few months of lockdown. It was a great place to unwind and we loved exploring the walks next to the cottage - we took the path through the field next to the house and reached an amazing viewpoint in a small village - We especially liked another walk turning right outside the cottage to Wray Castle and would love to come back to explore it more. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived. There is a lovely garden with outside seating quite far from the gate and the road - ! I loved the master bedroom with the window seats and little offset room. Loved the sense of history you get staying in this traditional Lakeland cottage. Thank you.

Michelle's place was exceptionally clean and tidy throughout the whole house. Field cottage is well situated on the road between Ambleside and Hawkshead. It is a busy road and care has to be taken when driving into and out of the gates. It is in a beautiful setting and it is possible to walk in several directions from the cottage. We took one particularly enjoyable walk to Wray Castle and then returned by walking along the banks of Windermere. On arrival we found a basket of groceries waiting for us. These included lovely local produce and were much appreciated. The cottage was clean and very well equipped. It had a dishwasher, oven, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge (With small freezer section) and every cooking utensil we needed. The living room had attractive flagged stone floors (I was pleased to have my slippers with me). Seating was comfortable and there was a television. Upstairs was a double (Large) bedroom and a smaller room with 2 single beds. There was also a well equipped bathroom with hot water at all times. We had two dogs with us. I was a little anxious about the wooden stairs with gaps but our dogs managed these well. I also had to watch them closely outside to ensure they did not get onto the busy road. We all settled well and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to our hosts.

Field Cottage was lovely! A really cosy and sweet base to call home for a long weekend. It is perfectly situated next to the bike/footpath that takes you directly to Wray Castle. This was also perfect as you can rent bikes and canoes/kayaks from the Low Wray Campsite! Perfect! And of course you have the Drunken Duck 2 miles up the road as well.

The cottage is excellently positioned within meters of the trail to Windemere or Ambleside and well worth a trek down to the waters edge early morning - if you are a runner its ideal for trails or a gentle undulating run along the path of Windemere. The cottage is well proportioned downstairs with all the facilities you would expect and all working with even a pint of mile delivered in the morning with a grocery list if you want it. Upstairs a massive main bedroom with a much smaller twin room which is functional. The heating in the place was superb and very quickly warmed up - we didnt need to use the log fire but Imagining the cold winter nights this could be a cosy little place

Beautiful Cottage in such a lovely quiet location. Perfect for walks as there is a walking route right opposite the front door that leads to Wray Castle and around Lake Windermere. Also very easy driving access to all the other places we wanted to visit (Langdale Pikes were a 15 minute drive away and well worth a trip for a good climb and fantastic views) Also communication was great and quick responses for every question!

Field cottage is in a great location for exploring Ambleside and the surrounding area. The cottage has a pretty garden and the inside is cozy and well presented. There are nice extra touches such as OS maps to plan walks and a complimentary bottle of fizz. Key pick up is only 5 mins down the road in Ambleside and Michelle is friendly and helpful. There are some great places to eat nearby; our best recommendation is the Queen's Head in Hawkshead which had lovely food and live music.

You will not be disappointed with your stay in Field Cottage. The accommodation is equipped with every thing you could possibly need. We especially enjoyed the log burner which was used every evening after returning from a hard days walking. This gives the whole cottage a lovely cosy feel. There are lots of OS maps and recommended walks leaflets etc in the lounge. The cottage is very dog friendly with a garden out the back and fields all around the property. You can walk into Ambleside in 45 mins or Wray castle in the about the same time. We visited the Drunken Duck which is lovely for dinner or a drink and took a short drive to Grasmere to Tweedies Inn, which was excellent. We found the whole area very dog friendly which included restaurants, cafes and boat trips
