A Quirky and Characterful Layout

Set over three floors, this diverse layout provides spacious accommodation for eight people in four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Entering from the roadside, you’re immediately welcomed into the hallway by the many homely touches and obvious outpouring of love that the owners have given to this property. To the right, you’ll find a well-equipped and modern kitchen with all the necessitates for embracing self-catering, and to your left, cloakroom and WC. A handy garage with internal access provides a washing machine, as well as ample storage for your walking gear, canoes, bicycles and anything else you might need when holidaying in this popular Lakeland resort.

Towards the back of the house, nestle down on the deep-cushioned leather sofas of the main lounge/dining room and enjoy the stunning views toward Loughrigg Fell, or take a seat on the first-floor balcony and enjoy the distant sounds of village life from afar. Sharing the lounge space sits a grand dining table – comfortably seating eight, and likely the focal point when it comes to a family games night!

Down one flight of stairs, you’ll reach the lower ground floor. Here, there’s a spacious king-sized bedroom with direct access to the sheltered patio, and a further double bedroom with a stunning outlook and plenty of storage space. A family bathroom with shower over bath also shares this level, ideally offering privacy to two families, or multi-generational gatherings, taking up residence on the first floor.

Sweeping up the staircase and past the feature ‘halved canoe bookshelf’, you’ll find the first floor which is home to two further bedrooms, one twin bedroom, and a second king-sized bedroom with sloped aspect and lots of quirky spaces. A further family house bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC is located on this floor.

To the rear of the house is an immaculately kept lawn and well-established but tamed hedging, offering the perfect amount of privacy from where to enjoy an evening tipple and the last of the day’s sun! There’s a small raised patio area here too – ideal for a morning cuppa or dining al fresco.

Spacious, comfortable property with quality furnishings. We stayed as a group of 8 adults and there was room for us all to sit comfortably to eat and relax. It was only a few minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside and there was a nearby bus stop with regular buses to Bowness, Grasmere or further afield.

Stay was good. Everything was according to as it was described. There was only a little problem with street parking. Apart from that everything was fine. Michelle was very friendly and always responded promptly.

A group of 6 friends shared the property. Everyone was impressed with the cleanliness. The house is decorated to a very high standard with quality furnishings and lovely decorations. The unexpected finding of milk and Prosecco in the fridge was very welcome d! Especially as not all members of our party drink also we were able to have a drink too. Thank you for a lovysray!

We had a wonderful stay at Edelweis. It was our second visit and just as good as we remembered. The house is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped with everything you could need. A real home away from home. Location is ideal, peaceful yet a short stroll into Ambleside. We’ll definitely be back again.

This is one of the cleanest and well stocked houses we've been in with lots of space for eight people. Absolutely amazing location. Close enough to benefit from all the amenities and shops ambleside has to offer but far enough away to relax in peace and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had an excellent stay and the house provided the perfect base to explore the Lake District. Great provisions in the house, great space and excellent setup. Would stay again and again! The town centre is a very short and easy walk, but the location is quiet and parking provided. We took bicycles and the garage was ideal to store our kit. The whole family loved the house and location.

Lovely house to stay at with family. One minor comment would be that the blinds in twin room need replacing as would not close and broken. - - - - - Hi Fiona, Thank you for your comments, we are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the lovely Edelweiss. Thank you for the feedback about the blinds, we had these mended straight away. I do hope we can welcome you back again very soon. Many thanks, Lakeland Retreats
