Had a wonderful few days at Dovedale which is fantastically located. Walking distance to all restaurants/pubs and shops. Beautiful house, clean and spacious but felt warm and cosy. A real home from home. Plenty of hot water for baths and showers after long days walking the fells. We would definitely stay there again

Great location, in the middle of Ambleside. Kitchen is very well appointed. Parking is off site but manageable. The property shows a few signs of wear and tear is managed by an agent but this is expected for such a central and popular location.

This house was lovely, perfect for a long weekend in Ambleside exploring, there were plenty of dog walks straight from the house. Could easily have spent a week here, the house had everything you need and was finished to a really high standard

Lovely cottage - beautifully kitted out for a comfortable stay. Beds very comfy with good quality bedding. Very central to walk to all the amenities in Ambleside. Only downside is not being able to park outside the door but we managed to find parking easily in car parks locally and certainly wouldn't put us off booking again. Lovely stay. Thankyou

Well equipped cottage which was lovely & clean & welcoming. This must be the fourth or fifth time we have stayed here and the combination of a well looked after cottage in such a central but quiet location means we don't bother looking for other cottages - except when this has been booked by someone else.

Our first trip to the Lake District and thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend with the family and Freddie the Labrador Retriever. Central location which meant we could park the car for the duration and walk everywhere. Beautiful cottage, well furnished and equipped. Would definitely return.

We have had the best time at Dovedale cottage and we are already thinking in coming back! The cottage has everything you need and more for humans and dogs and we instantly felt at home, definitely one of the cosiest Airbnb’s we have been! Location could not be better, all the amenities that Ambleside has to offer right in your doorstep (within 5 minutes walk from all the amazing pubs, restaurants and shops) and the most beautiful routes for walking and hiking without needing to use the car! We have love every minute of it and we will definitely be back soon! 🤍 Thank you to Michelle and Lakeland Retreats for the amazing service!

Dovedale is an amazing cottage to stay at when visiting Ambleside. It’s clear it’s been renovated thinking about pragmatism and comfort. I’m even considering applying some changes to my own place after staying here! The attention to detail was great, all the appliances worked well, the layout allowed the group to have privacy and space but also spend time together without feeling crammed. The log fire was definitely a big plus during the winter and a focal point for our chats with a tea in the evenings. Location was extremely convenient for the local shops, bus stops and Ambleside activities. Overall a fantastic stay and we are looking forward to visiting again!

Cottage was perfect and had everything we needed for our stay. We knew about the parking before booking and had no trouble using the Rydal car park all week and that wouldn’t put us off staying here again.

Cottage was lovely , in a great position. No parking but the permit worked fine. There was everything needed , towels, tea towels, washing up liquid, hairdryers ! All quality fittings & furnishings. Would like to own something like it!

Lovely house right in the centre of Ambleside, only downside is parking but can't have everything. The supplied permit is good for car parks all over the lakes, just have to find a space which can be difficult at busy times.

Beautifully appointed very clean comfortable mid terraced cottage in quiet position in town centre. Key entry was very simple. Although I thought it had been suggested in the property particulars there would be a supply of logs on arrival none were there but that was irrelevant as the underfloor heating was more than sufficient. There was a welcome pint of milk in the fridge on our arrival, a nice touch. We had very wet weather in our stay so we could not take advantage of sitting out in the small courtyard garden. This was in a surprisingly quiet area even though it is in the town centre. Overall apart from not being able to park outside the property ( but there was always spaces available in the main car park) and the voucher supplied with the cottage dealt with that very simply) this was a delightful place to stay, and we would certainly return.

Dovedale cottage exceeded expectations . It was furnished & equipped to a high standard , being very comfortable & warm . Everything was spotlessly clean & was well cared for . The beds were very comfortable & plentiful hot water in the bathrooms . The location is ideal being very close to all the amenities of Ambleside , while being very quiet in a lane off the main road . The parking permit was very welcome which can be used in several car parks . We have already recommended Dovedale to friends & family and we will definitely book another stay . Fabulous house in the heart of Ambleside. Every single amenity thought of in the kitchen. Comfortable beds. Thought parking might be a pain, but we just unloaded and used the Rydal Road car park with the included pass for the week. Peaceful, although in the centre. Highly recommend

Stayed at Dovedale for a Monday to Friday break it was perfect. The house was superb and when we had a small problem with one of the showers(too hot)it was sorted the same day with no fuss.
Would highly recommend Dovedale to anyone wanting a small cottage style place to stay in the middle of Ambleside where there were lots of places to eat on an evening(The Preist hole was superb)

2nd time staying and very pleased, we will stay again without a doubt. It's great for 3 couples and allowing dogs is amazing. Clean, well presented and personal touches here and there, it really feels like a home for the stay.

Superb, tastefully decorated and comfortable home. We were a family of 6 adults & 1 Labrador and we had enough space to lounge about.
There are enough kitchen utensils & gadgets.
Please just remember to take your own shower gel, as this wasn’t provided.
Very dog friendly will bowls, lead rack and a welcome dog chew. This was a lovely touch.
The house is ideally situated in the centre of Ambleside & which has plenty of bars, restaurants and amenities.
There are plenty of local car parks if you can’t park in-front of the house.
Plenty of easily accessible walks or wainwright’s to explore. We even took a dip in the river at Stockghyll Force.
Above all, breathe in the fresh air, go and explore, and have fun! 😃

We had the best time staying in this beautiful little cottage. It is finished to such a high standard and really looks the part. The showers were amazing! Which is a nice surprise as a lot of showers when you are away are so rubbish. But the pressure was great. Its the little things. The booking and check in was easy. Everyone was really accommodating when sorting our booking etc as there was a little error on our part. We also were given late check out as they had no one staying the following day, which was lovely to not be rushing on the last day. Great stay! We will 100% be back!

What a great find! The house was perfectly located in a super quiet road in the middle of the town.The house was beautifully clean with a warm welcome and was very well decorated and set out and the area for boots and coats was ideal for getting them out of the way after long walks. We used the local long stay car parks for the car which were only 5 minutes walk away but easily unloaded the car in the road outside the house when we arrived and left. Comfortable beds and great bathrooms too, were already looking at further dates to come back!

Thoughtfully refurbished and decorated by the owners, lots of character, comfy beds & linen, brilliant underfloor heating, well equipped kitchen but no cupboard space for food/drinks, nice big fridge but freezer space too small and did not close properly as it was all frosted up. Nice outdoor space and spacious, beautiful bathrooms. Unfortunately we found the microwave dirty, half eaten food in the fridge/freezer, dishwasher filthy and broken, kettle broken, thermostat on ensuite shower faulty. Lakeland retreats offered a re-clean the day after our checkin but we had already cleaned at this point as we needed to use the appliances. Also tried to blame us for arriving at 3pm but a representative was also there at 3pm and told us it was OK to go in. In summary, nice cottage offered by the owners but let down by the management/cleaning company.

Just back from a week's stay in Dovedale. Location is perfect, right in the middle of town on a very quiet lane. As soon as we walked in the front door we were blown away with the standard of the cottage, everything has been fully modernised to a very high standard, top quality kitchen appliances, both bathrooms were superb both with really good showers. Very comfy beds. We couldn't fault any of it.Parking permit came in really handy, we managed top park right outside the front door and it didn't move again all week!We'll be booking again for next year!

We have just spent 5 nights in Dovedale cottage, it was situated in a fantastic position, right in the center of Ambleside with access to all shops, restaurants and pubs, it was also close to many fabulous walk. The cottage itself was excellent, very cosy and comfortable with all amenities needed to make our stay feel like home. We certainly recommend this cottage and will hopefully book another stay in the not too distant future.

Lovely weekend in this cosy little house. The place was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with lots of pleasant finishing touches. An ideal location in the centre of Ambleside; Windermere is also easily accessible by bus/car. Communication with the host was excellent - Michelle was more than happy to provide us with suggestions for walks/things to do nearby. Kitchen was well-equipped with cooking utensils, It's also worth noting there is only one parking permit, therefore any additional cars will need to pay, though Michelle did provide us with nearby parking suggestions. Would absolutely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting Ambleside!

Amazing location, right in the heart of Ambleside with lots of shops and walks. Cottage was decorated nicely and had everything we needed, however, we were a group of 6 adults and 2 large dogs so the downstairs was a bit small for us - would suit a smaller family better. Also parking was an issue, you cannot park outside the property for longer than 1 or 2 hours, we had two cars and you get a parking permit for one of the cars to freely use the car park which is about a 10 minute walk (Michelle told me this before and wasnt an issue). The issue was trying to find a space after a day out, we had to circle the car park for half hour + waiting for someone to leave. Was a bit annoying after a long walk and in wet clothes! Maybe we just picked the wrong time to go..

Such a beautiful and thoughtful cottage. There were lots of little touches like local toiletries and art, books about the area and even a Lake District edition of monopoly. The fire was on for when we arrived and a bottle of fizz was on the side. A gorgeous location, really convenient, beautiful cottage and interiors as well as being well kitted for nights in cooking. Would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely week and all agreed that in over 20 years of coming to cottages in the Lake District this is probably the best one we have stayed in. Our thanks to the owners for fitting it and equipping it out so well and to your cleaner for making sure it was so clean for our arrival. You will be surprised how many times arriving for a holiday we have felt that the first thing we needed to do was to start cleaning. Not this time, immaculate!

great house will all the aminities you could want, all wrapped up in a stylish pad, with everything on your doorstep. there is an amazing vegetarian/vegan cafe on your door step and a good Thai, your in the centre of town with out even knowing it. the place has lovely underfloor heating that keeps you so warm you wont need to use the log burner. you wont want to go home

This is a beautiful house in a great spot for exploring the Lakes. The pictures dont really do it justice. Its a big, modern house with lots of thoughtful touches and all the mod-cons you would need. The utility room was a huge help for muddy boots and for our dog stuff. We had a great stay.

OUTSTANDING! This apartment (more like a house with 3 floors/stories) is gorgeous and tastefully decorated. Modern, yet also country-rustic. Everything is brand new and freshly renovated. Radiant heat floors, towel warmers and wood burner made chilly nights super cozy. My wife and I are vegan and cook most meals at home. This kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Location was convenient to everything in Ambleside. Never more than a 5 minute walk from either end of town. Check In was easy, picked the keys up right down the block. Parking permits were provided (and necessary!). Do not hesitate to book, youll love it!
