Exquisite Soft Furnishings Create a Sumptuous, Romantic Feel

From the main entrance at the rear, step into the newly fitted kitchen dining room with striking units underneath wooden countertops with quality appliances of dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, Neff electric oven and hob. Step up to the handy utility with washer/dryer and through to the luxurious bathroom with a powerful shower over the bath, vanity hand basin and WC.

Take the stairs to the first floor where you’ll find two glorious living spaces; to the right is the TV lounge with two sumptuous sofas and an armchair to sink into and watch your favourite channel and the more formal lounge sits to the left with a leather sofa and two beautifully styled armchairs arranged around the warming woodburning stove, just the spot to curl up with a good book and while away a couple of hours.

At the top of the next flight of stairs with a split landing at the top are the two luxurious bedrooms, a king-size to the right and another king-size to the left, both exquisitely presented with great style and flair to create a peaceful ambience to aid a night of restful sleep. There’s a handy cloakroom on the half landing, as stylish as the rest of the cottage with basin and WC and vanity mirror.

Outside, there’s a delightful seating area opposite the cottage with a stone table and benches sitting under a wooden pergola, the perfect setting for a pre-dinner drink or early morning cuppa.

Off-road parking is available for two medium-sized cars and there’s a bus stop just opposite at the Cuckoo Brow.

Luxurious, Characterful Cottage – Perfect for A Celebratory Break with Your Loved One

If you’re seeking somewhere to celebrate one of life’s special milestone birthdays, anniversaries or even your honeymoon, then look no further than the elegant Dell Cottage. Located in the picturesque hamlet of Far Sawrey in the heart of Potter Country, Dell Cottage is a luxurious, romantic bolthole offering sophisticated styling and exceptional quality throughout to leave you feeling thoroughly relaxed and indulged. With a quirky layout set out over three floors, Dell Cottage provides a superb combination of traditional cottage facilities married with perfectly chosen accents of Harris Tweed, William Morris and Mulberry introduced by way of sumptuous, hand-picked furniture and exquisitely selected soft furnishings – only a fellow fabric lover would understand!

Take a stroll along the shores of what Miss Potter herself described as the most beautiful of lakes, Esthwaite Water and soak up the peace and tranquillity of this rather special piece of Lakeland, even try your hand at fishing if you have the patience! Beatrix’s former home, Hilltop is located in neighbouring Near Sawrey whilst the picturesque village of Hawkshead is a mere 2 miles away from where you’ll find a myriad of cobbled streets lined with shops, tea rooms, galleries and some fine traditional pubs. Take a stroll down to the shores of Windermere or take the car and passenger ferry over to Bowness and Windermere. Claife Heights and Claife viewing station are a short walk away as is Wray Castle and the beautiful Tarn Hows. The South Lakes boasts a number of award-winning dining options including several Michelin Star but if you fancy a more informal evening, a roaring log fire and a pint of local ale, then stagger no further than the Cuckoo Brow just across the road or the nearby National Trust owned Tower Bank Arms.

Don't have a bad word to say, the place was amazing myself and my girlfriend had a wonderful stay here. Plenty close enough to everything we wanted to see but in a very quiet location. Peaceful, comfortable, excellent. Will stay again!

A beautifully decorated cottage in a quiet and pretty village within walking distance of Beatrix potters cottage. The inn is just across the road and is ideal for evening meals if you don’t fancy cooking. If you’re ou do cook the kitchen is well equipped. Comfortable beds and clean bathrooms with fresh towels. We stayed as two couples and had plenty of room.

We had a wonderful stay at Dell Cottage. What a beautiful base for a Lakes visit. The furnishings, bedding and bathroom were all super quality and everything thought through. Blankets, games, books and kitchen equipment with coffee machine. We walked to nearby pubs and Hill Top as well as caught the ferry to Windermere and had a pit stop at Joe's by the Lake. Thank you for welcome.

A great little bolthole in a perfect part of Britain. Dell cottage is a great location and prefect if you want variety near both Forest & fells and popular visitor attractions. A home from home. Very comfortable and lovely decor.

Loved Dell cottage, very clean and tastefully furnished. Thank you ... wish we had booked direct with Lakeland Retreats rather than Airbnb as there is a significant price difference.

Lovely cottage - beautiful furnishings, amazing location. Beds were rather firm but that’s probably just me as I’m used to a memory foam mattress. But had a wonderful week.

We had a lovely week at Dell Cottage. The property was very well equipped to a high standard; clean and cosy with lots of finishing touches. I particularly loved the curtains! Ideal location, away from the hustle and bustle of crowds. Access to some beautiful, dog friendly walks and the pub across the road was great - Cuckoo Brow Inn. Good food and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend Dell Cottage for a stay in the Lake District - such a beautiful part of the world.

Dell Cottage was beautiful. It had everything we needed for our 7 night break. A beautiful peaceful location, house is tastefully decorated and well kitted out. The local roads can be very narrow, but if you take your time they are passable. The Cuckoo Brow in is almost straight across the road from the cottage and the food and drinks are good. The viewing station at Claife is worth the short walk and Joey’s Cafe is good for coffee and cake. We used the ferry to Windermere a good few times, at £1 per person per crossing it is great value. Windermere was very busy over the Easter weekend. I’d suggest visitors walk beyond Bowness on Windermere up the hill to Windermere itself. It’s much quieter and picturesque, drop into Bandito Burrito for food, it’s brilliant! Overall a great stay, Michelle was a great host. Thanks for a lovely break!

We loved the cottage. It was clean, well supplied and warm. You can enjoy walks from the front door. It is quiet and peaceful. For anyone with an EV, you can walk to a FUUSE charger nearby ( about 7 min walk in grounds of the Lakes skin care company) The welcome bottle of prosecco and milk in hte fridge were appreciated too!

Dell cottage was cosy. The quality of soft furnishings were excellent. However, the lounges could do with side lamps and a lamp on the dressing table when applying make up would be helpful. The kitchen was a little cramped and the lighting was poor.

My family had a lovely stay in Dell Cottage and found it to be a great base to explore the lakes. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and very cosy during some pretty bleak weather, either amazing views over the fields and surrounding countryside. We highly recommend the friendly pub across the road and a trip up to nearby Hawkshead village for nice shopping and hiking. This is a really comfortable property and we would absolutely recommend it to other travellers.

Excellent stay at Dell cottage. We were a party of 4 adults attending a wedding at Sawrey House hotel and the cottage was a 10 min walk away so perfect location. There is a pub called cookoo brow inn opposite the cottage which we ate in one night. Typical menu and price for the Lake District and easy as it’s so close. The cottage is within walking distance of the car ferry to Windermere. I would not recommend the cottage for anyone with mobility issues.

Fantastic and cosy cottage with anything you need, it’s furnished to an excellent standard. It’s on the quite side of Windermere, it was perfect for our needs. Easy access to Hawkshead village and less than 5 minutes to a local pub where you can get breakfast or evening meal.

Dell Cottage is extremely comfortable and cozy, every detail of the photos is exactly as it is in reality! You have everything you need for cooking or a short distance from nearby restaurants! Walking around is wonderful! From the master bedroom we were lucky enough to see rabbits every afternoon! And if you're a fan of Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter, this is it! It was very short for a week! We will definitely be back! Thank you Michelle for leaving us a trip with wonderful memories!!!

We had a lovely stay Dell Cottage. The house is furnished beautifully (to a high spec), and we liked the way it was split across 3 floors which meant there were fabulous views out of the upstairs windows. The kitchen was well-equipped and the locally produced Pure Lakes bathroom products smelt divine (so had to buy some!). We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, the location of the cottage is great for exploring places like Ambleside, Grasmere and Windemere, and absolutely recommend a trip to the Boathouse Cafe at Esthwaite Water. Beautiful view and really nice home-cooked food. Would recommend a stay here, absolutely!

Had a wonderful stay at this cottage with my husband for our wedding anniversary. The cottage was beautiful, super warm, well decorated and clean. Very clean. Perfect decor. Modern kitchen. Comfy beds. Very quiet location. 1 minute walk to a pub. Near sawrey 10 minute walk. Hawkshead 2 hour walk or 7 minute drive. Ambleside , Bowness and Windermere all within 30 min drive. Multiple o/s walks all around. Sandwiched between another rentable cottage next door (quiet) and (Not sure what but not always occupied) maybe a stock room / staff house. Great little touches on our arrival - milk for first brew-Prosecco-Games-torches-Walking books/ideas-Enough wood for first fire. One helpful note for dog owners. The roads are mainly very quiet however the bottom/main entrance door opens almost straight onto the narrow road which is not an issue if you've got control of your dog.Great parking spot opposite for 2 cars. Stairs maybe an issue for elderly or toddlers. Summary- we will return and highly recommend 10/10.

Gorgeous place with an Arts & Crafts vibe. Everything you need for a comfortable stay, and exceptionally clean. So many things to do in the area, and the ferry was very convenient in the off-peak hours to cross the lake in the car. The pub across the street has well-made pub fare and the service was really attentive and friendly. We even ran into people we know from home, in Cambridge, at the pub! Would definitely return to stay.

A very pretty and well-appointed cottage, we enjoyed our stay here. The location is on the ‘quiet’ side of the lake, but the main attractions are still within easy enough reach by car, and we were struck by the high standard of finish throughout, including a coffee machine and a good range of crockery. The (rather nice) Cuckoo Brow Inn is (literally) a stone’s throw away, too, which is convenient for a drink or a meal if you don’t want to drive (though be warned: you’ll need to book a table well in advance in summer). There were a few very minor niggles: the parking is pretty tricky, partly owing to the narrow nature of the road, but mainly because of the raised ‘ledge’ separating the driveway from the road. And while it’s somewhat subjective, we found the mattresses to be very firm. Pricing was reasonable by Lakes standards and we would happily book again.

A wonderful cottage in a quiet area, perfect for exploring the central Lakes. Lovely walks nearby including to Lake Windermere and a short 20minute drive to Ambleside and Coniston. We had an amazing stay!…..perfect location!……it was close enough to everything we needed yet far enough away to be isolated. The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival and communication was spot on! We would recommend booking early for any restaurants/pub meals in the local as it was always booked up…..however the food we had was perfect!….everyone we met seemed friendly and helpful Lake Windermere was a 20min walk away! The only negative we had was a neighbour didn’t like us using the outside area as they said we were ”noisy”….which is nonsense as we had just arrived and was mid unloading the car!!…..we didn’t let that spoil our stay!! Thanks again!!….we highly recommend this venue!

Dell Cottage is a lovely cottage which was immaculately cleaned and well presented. A bottle of Prosecco greeted us and the facilities and equipment provided were spot on. Well. What can I say about dell cottage. From the moment we arrived I was in love. Bottle of bubbles and the heating turned in for arrival. Perfect for this time of year. Beautiful cottage. Wonderfully clean. We made full use of the boardgames and map books. The log fire was to die for. Every appliance you could possibly need is at your disposal the only possible downside is that we had to leave. Me and my partner had the most romantic beautiful place and I really couldnt reccommed dell cottage any more. P.S. the beds and bedding were sublime. Thanks for an amazing stay we're already re booking for summer
