A TRADITIONAL LAKELAND COTTAGE WITH AN ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT

Set over two floors, Darwin is entered from the street via a small set of stairs. You enter the lounge where there is comfortable seating for all to get cosy around the log burner or to catch up on your favourite TV shows after a day out. The feel of a traditional Lakeland building is maintained throughout through its exposed wood beams. All its amenities are good quality modern facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Through the back of the lounge is the bright spacious kitchen where you can gather to re-fuel and recount the adventures of the day, and plan for the next. You can also get your wet gear back to top form with the laundry facilities here.
Upstairs you’ll find the two bedrooms and the house bathroom. The main bedroom is a double with a dressing area and storage on either side of the comfy bed. The second bedroom is a single and is equipped with a cupboard and chest of drawers for storage, and a chair to one side. The two bedrooms share a house bathroom with a bath with a shower, hand basin, and WC.

Very nice cottage house, directly in the center. Very good parking facilities on central car parks in Keswick. We enjoyed staying there. Take ear plugs with you as the windows let quite some noise in, though it is not a main road paying by.

Great little terraced cottage slap bang in central Keswick, under one minute walk from good eateries and pubs and super close to the Derwant Water. The lack of parking wasn't a big issue as the Central Car Park is about 3 minutes walk away and owners kindly organised a permit for the time we were there. Something to consider is the check in and check out. House is on a relatively busy (at times) road which is narrow and really should be one way but isn't, with double yellows on both sides. We had a large amount of stuff including a toddler, so made unloading and packing up a bit tricky but not insurmountable! A small point- the kitchen is very well stocked with useful bits of kit but we were mostly self catering so a bit more cupboard space would have been helpful. On the whole, a great place in a super location. We had a fab time exploring the local area

We had a great stay at Michelle’s place! The house was clean, perfectly sized, so close to the town and we really appreciated the well equipped kitchen, the beds were comfy and cosy, and lots of space for storing items.

Perfectly positioned near all amenities and easy access to quieter spots. Had a lovely time cosying by the log fire and drinking tea after a long walk.

The cottage was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need during our 1 week stay. The beds are so comfortable too I slept better than at home! And the location is amazing too: 1 min away from many great restaurants and 5-7 mins away from the lake by foot. Overall we had one of our best vacations at Keswick thanks to Darwin cottage and the super responsive Lakeland Retreat team!

For two or three people who want to stay within Keswick this is a great choice. Very comfortable, two-floor layout. There's a well equiped kitchen. Steps to everything. There's no parking on site but we were able to unload and move the car to public parking close by. The host was also flexible about extending our parking on the last day. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful cottage, great location everything you need for a lovely stay. The only downside was road outside is quite noisy, but not enough to stop us returning.

A very well equipped, beautifully clean small cottage. Well located for the town centre of Keswick. Parking is included which was a nice touch and is about 2 to 300m walk away. A very enjoyable stay. Thank you

We had a great stay at Michelle's. The cottage was super clean and just the right size for a long weekend away for two people with lots of hiking gear. Our favourite place to stay in the Lakes is Keswick so we really appreciated how central the cottage was to town while still being on a quiet street. It would have been perfect if the cottage had a parking space at the house, but the nearest car park is only a couple minutes' walk and we appreciated that we were able to be set up to park there for free during our stay.

I enjoyed staying at Darwin Cottage. The location was fantastic, right in town and close to many pubs and restaurants. It was a bit tricky unloading and reloading the car as the car park was a 5 min walk away and the street was too narrow to stop outside, but it was clean and warm and pleasant.

This is a superbly presented beautiful cottage, in a great location in the centre of Keswick. Close to the shops & lakeside. The decor is top rate, as are the facilities provided. The only disadvantage is the early morning roadside noise, to be expected as it is right on the road, but the road does seem to be busy early on. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect for a couple or small family trip away. Few too many pet hairs but then it is a dog friendly house so to be expected. Check in and out was seamless. Comms were spot on. Only negative. Please Michelle change the sofa and chairs. I’m winter with that lovely fire on snuggled up. Would be great. But not on that sofa! All in all a great stay and would recommend.

Darwin cottage is a very cosy, lovely decorated and comfortable cottage. The cupboards are full of board games, maps and books on the Lake District. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom is spacious and clean. The cottage is situated in a very quiet street (apart from the cute birds song in the morning), but very close to the lively central square of Keswick where you'll find everything you need (pubs, shops, the bakery, and bus station). Derwent water is only a short walk from the cottage and makes for a lovey evening stroll or a short dive/swim. The tourist information offers good advice for hiking in the Lake District while depending on public transport. All in all this is the perfect base for exploring the Lake District and coming ‘home’ to a cosy cottage after a day of severe hiking! I hope to come back some day!
