From the front of this double fronted cottage, step straight into the cosy lounge room with deep-cushioned sofas arranged around the warming wood-burning stove, Smart TV, DVD and window seat. A step up leads to the well-fitted kitchen dining area with a good range of pale sage units wrapped in marble effect counters with; electric oven, induction hob, fridge with small freezer box, dishwasher, Tassimo coffee machine, and microwave. TRADITIONAL CHOCOLATE BOX COTTAGE SET IN THE HEART OF HISTORIC HAWKSHEAD

The cobbled courtyards and alleyways of Hawkshead are lined with pretty, ancient cottages adorned with colourful hanging baskets and planted pots and you’ll find the delightful Grade II listed Corner House tucked away behind the main square and the popular Honeypot coffee shop. This double fronted, traditional cottage has undergone a major transformation with the help of talented local tradesmen who have totally remodelled the accommodation to provide superb facilities for a couple and their dog. The owner has taken great care to provide perfectly chosen soft furnishings and colour palates to create a modern take on a traditional blend that suits the cottage perfectly.

Famous for its literary connections to both Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, take in historic buildings such as Hawkshead Grammar School where William attended and carved his name in the desk, Beatrix’s husband’s solicitors office, now a gallery in her name or retrace William’s steps up Vicarage Lane, past Walker Ground and onto Goosey Foot Tarn, a peaceful spot tucked away within Grizedale Forest. After a day walking or cycling, head back to the village and enjoy some homemade fayre at one of the popular inns whilst listening to the regular live music nights.

This is our second stay at the Corner House and it will not be our last. It is warm and comfortable and very well appointed. Of particular note is the large boot room, well set up for a dog and her humans in wet/snowy weather: warm, direct access to outside to avoid traipsing through the sitting room, and with coat pegs strategically placed above the radiator so all things human and hound dry quickly. Just don’t leave any chocolate in your pocket…..

Lovely warm, well equipped cottage. Great to have laundry facilities and the area for coats and boots. Excellent walks from the door and The Queens Head was a great pub with really friendly staff.

It's a very nice cottage a stones throw from the centre of Hawkshead. Very quiet, especially at night with no traffic or people passing the front door (though as a caveat I stayed in November). Good heating and nice wood burner (Co-op sells logs, or the garages in Coniston/Ambleside) Local pubs are nice - recommend picking up the free walking trail from The Queens Head - 4 very nice walks from the village, especially the Latterbarrow walk which gives stunning views. Can highly recommend the cat themed bar "KITTchEN" - excellent beers and very nice local owners.

Lovely cosy cottage, great modern facilities but still incorporating the old charm of the cottage. Perfect for two people, this is our second stay here and we would definitely return. Excellent location for the lovely village of Hawkshead. We enjoyed the log burner on an evening after a walk during the day. Nice touch with a welcome bottle of fizz for our arrival. Lakeland Retreats are great to deal with we would recommend them they are very helpful.

Corner House was a fantastic place to stay, especially if you plan to make the most of the local walking and cycling routes. The house is extremely well kept, well equipped and very comfortable. A personal highlight was the wood fire in the living room. The village of Hawkshead has plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants whilst also maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. It is also very well located for walks to nearby towns such as Ambleside and Coniston. 10/10 would recommend and hope to stay there again soon!

This was our 2nd stay in this cottage, so we knew what to expect, but somehow it seemed even better than before. Cosy livin room, with lovely bright, well- equipped kitchen, downstairs cloakroom/utility room and large boot room/drying room. Pretty bedroom and large modern bathroom with a fabulous bath. A stone's throw from the choice of village cafes and restaurants and a handy supermarket. Other lovely shops make this a perfect Lakeland village. We have already booked for next year!

We had a wonderful stay in Hawkshead! the accommodation was in an ideal location just meters away from shops and restaurants. The car park was on a short walk away and the accommodation provided a permit which was ideal. The bed and bathroom are both spacious and comfortable. The addition of some bubbly on arrival was a lovely touch. We could not recommend this spot more to enjoy your time in the lakes.

Perfect location for exploring the Lake District. Hawkshead is a cute village, most of the houses are now vacation homes, but still it has retained the village character. Everything is within walking distance, shops, pubs, inns and beautiful hiking trails.

Corner House was beautifully presented, plenty of space for two people and had all the amenities we required. It isn’t visible from the road but the instructions provided were clear and made it easy to find. The host was quick to respond to the one query we had. It’s a perfect location in the centre of Hawkshead and we’d definitely recommend it to other couples!

We had a great time at the corner cottage. We had everything we needed and it was lovely and clean. Having a utility room with the dog was wonderful! And so helpful when coming in from the beautiful surrounding walks. We got used to the low kitchen ceiling but it is something to bare inmind if you are particularly tall. We'd 100% come back!

We had a lovely week’s stay. The cottage was cosy and in an excellent location. All amenities close by. Hawkshead is a pretty village and an excellent base. Unfortunately, due to closures, there are not many places to eat in the evening but would definitely recommend Poppi Red, who serve great, reasonably priced breakfast and evening meals. We would definitely stay at the cottage again if we revisited Hawkshead and have recommended it to family.

Excellent accommodation which met all our needs. Hawkshead is a really nice place to stay with easy access to all the main scenic locations. House was very clean, and in semi private location. During the stay, I highlighted a couple of maintenance issues (more to resolve in the weeks ahead rather than impacting our stay). However, within 24 hours a member of the Facilities Management team turned up to repair. House was very dog friendly. Enjoyed our stay and created a good impression on the quality of accommodation available throughout the Lakes.

Corner Cottage is a beautifully presented cottage in a lovely village surrounded by the most stunning scenery. It has all modern fixtures and fittings whilst still retaining lots of old features and cosy cottage charm. It was spotlessly clean , well equipped and the boot room is ideal if you have dogs. There were numerous walks from the door and also great pubs and cafes. We felt extremely at home and would definitely visit again.

What a wonderful cottage. Kitchen has everything & more that you would need. The bath is to die for, spent a bit too long in there really but don’t forget to take your bubble bath. Village is great, few shops n pubs, gets quite busy. Some great dog & human walks. Only bad things are 1.the road there, it’s very narrow so we didn’t venture out at night. 2 the garden is not enclosed, my dogs will only do their business on grass so had to take them out every few hours (for me this was not a problem, but think it would be for some) Would definitely recommend as a lovely romantic weekend away

Corner house is a beautifully presented property with some lovely touches. We enjoyed the bath, really comfy bed and the coat/boot room was ideal for our dog and wet gear. The prosecco and parking permit on arrival was also appreciated. Some additional details could improve the overall guest experience - hand soap/shower gel for the bathroom, some extra towels, coffee pods for the coffee machine and some recommendation of where to access additional logs for the wood burning stove.

Corner House is a quiet, private and cosy place to stay, set in beautiful Hawkshead, so close Windermere, Coniston and other local sites. Check in was extremely easy, the hosts were helpful and quick to respond during our stay, and there was plenty of parking nearby. The local shops, tea room and pubs just around the corner, as well as the cobbled streets and Beatrix Potter museum made it a lovely place to spend the weekend. There are also plenty of public footpaths starting from nearby the cottage which were perfect for dog walks. We'd love to stay here again.

Just back from a fabulous weeks stay in Corner House. The cottage was beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. It is located within easy reach of many attractions but far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle of the busy towns.

We had a great stay in Corner House, we would definitely recommend this cottage to couples. It’s a lovely cosy cottage with a great bedroom, lovely bathroom and the kitchen is really well appointed. All very new, clean and warm. Communication with the holiday company was fast. Hawkshead is lovely, but worth knowing that when we stayed all pubs were short of staff so food was very limited, we needed to have booked a table a few weeks before your stay which we only did for our first night so couldn’t eat in Hawkshead the rest of the week.

A fabulous cozy cottage in a really nice village . . . The cottage was a perfect base for a walking holiday in the lakes. The cottage was very well equipped and it had everything to make our stay home from home. We loved the log burner and the large utility area in the cottage which was great for drying out walking gear after heavy rain on our first day out on the fells/hills. The Queens Head pub nearby was a great place for a drink and a meal in the evening. I would recommend this cottage. Thank you for the use of your cottage, we had a wonderful weekend break.
