TAKE TIME FOR THE TWO OF YOU – YOU’VE EARNED IT

Once you get to Cobblestones, via a sloping access lane from the courtyard, you’ll find everything you need for your stay inside. If it’s the great outdoors you’re here for, there’s a useful bench and boot rack, and loads of hooks for your walking gear by the front door. Four steps then take you down into the main hallway and the rest of the comfortably furnished apartment.

Take time to relax in the open-plan living room/kitchen diner. Curl up together on the leather sofa and enjoy a movie on the widescreen TV. If you’re not heading out or ordering in, the well-equipped kitchen area has an electric hob and microwave for whipping up dinner from the local produce you picked up earlier in the day. And there’s room on the countertop to fix a well-earned pre-dinner G&T after a day of exploring. If the weather’s fine, take your drinks outside and clink glasses in the shared garden by the River Brathay (just across the road).

When bedtime beckons, get ready in the smart, travertine-tiled fitted bathroom before heading back into the bedroom and drifting off for the night in the comfy double bed, waking refreshed for whatever adventures tomorrow may bring.

IDEAL FOR THAT LAKE DISTRICT ADVENTURE YOU’VE BEEN PROMISING YOURSELVES

And breathe… The pair of you are going to love Cobblestones. This charming and cosy courtyard apartment (part of a complex converted from former stables and grooms’ cottages) is the perfect base for cosy nights in and adventurous days out on the nearby fells – a path up to Todd Crag is enticingly close to the front door, with Loughrigg Fell and views of Windermere and the Coniston fells part of the stunning rewards. But, if the only walk you fancy is to the shops or the nearest pub, a twenty-minute stroll to the many delights of Ambleside will leave you spoilt for choice.

Fantastic location, only a short walk to Ambleside which is a bustling little Town, full of great dog friendly pubs to finish an off a long day of walking. There are many beautiful walks on your doorstep at this location. Some that you can walk straight to or others than you can take a short drive to and take in all the views the Lake District has to offer. Getting to the property was easy, directions were given via email and explained everything to the T. We had a couple of teething problems with the property on the first day, but they were all rectified immediately and everything was in working condition by the time we returned from our walk. We’d certainly return!

The cottage has to be the best we have stayed in as regards the position of the cottage and everything that was there as well, this is the second time we have used lakeland retreats and will be using again for our next break

We loved being high up, as you look out the bedroom and living room window you can see the hills and trees. Outdoor space is obviously limited, but didn’t need it so much as we pretty much walked all day and then went for dinner so was home late.

A lovely apartment located a short walk from the centre of Ambleside. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and adequately equipped for a short stay. Plenty of books and maps with all the information required for a stay in the Lakes. The only downside of the accommodation was the steep cobbled drive up to the apartment which I found difficult to reverse down with quite a large car.

A wonderful place to spend a few days. A great location with lovely walks nearby. The apartment was very clean, well equipped and we felt at home straight away. The little communal garden by the river was a great bonus. We loved it and would be very happy to visit again.

Loved our stay in this beautiful cosy cottage! Perfect location within easy waking distance just outside Ambleside, a great base for Lake District adventures! Modern decoration, spotlessly clean and very peaceful. The private garden overlooking the river is beautiful. At the top of quite a steep (short) cobblestones slope so might be tricky with mobility difficulties. Dog friendly and lots of great walking guides! Michelle is a very friendly helpful host! Loved our stay and would absolutely recommend
