Bumble Bee Cottage is both comfortable and cosy, the perfect Lake District retreat. The open plan living space is perfect for enjoying a family meal, a board game, or watching a movie together whilst sat around a warming log burner and planning the next days adventure.
Set out over three floors, the 4 spacious bedrooms provide flexible sleeping for 6, with a house bathroom and separate shower room to avoid queues on your return from a day on the fells.
Lots of storage is available including a handy porch at the front entrance for storing all your walking clobber. An outhouse to the rear houses the washer, dryer, and freezer and is also handy for securely storing bikes and other sports equipment.
The cottage style garden sits just across from the cottage, accessed by way of a few stone steps, just the spot for enjoying the fine views whilst listening to the nearby river (when our typical Lakeland weather will allow and of course!).

This is a favourite cottage of ours and we have stayed a number of times. The Location is right in the centre of the old part of Ambleside yet peaceful and all you can hear is the river. It has everything you could need, is beautifully decorated and has a lovely little garden. Lakeland Retreats are by far the best holiday cottage we have used and have high standards. We have always managed to get a parking place by the terrace or close by but a parking permit is also provided for the nearby car park. The neighbours are really lovely and so welcoming. I highly recommend this cottage.

We had a lovely stay at the bumble bee cottage. We stayed there for 10 full days, working partly remotely and taking a few days off. The location is perfect, a minute walk away from the shops and restaurants of Ambleside. Check in and out was easy and communication was great. Only con is we found the beds / mattresses uncomfortable. Other than that, I would highly recommend , we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Good location and nice property. Presented a good base to explore from. Fair amount of everyday items available within. Duvets were very very thick so too hot for us all, fortunately we had spare sheets. Awful spot for parking and spaces at a premium even with the pass in the enarest public car park. This is inevitable in places likes this though
Issues with the taps and shower which were addressed well by the letting agents. Disappointed by cleanliness andamount of residual dust around, particualrly in obvious and accessible places.

Lovely cottage and all within walking distance to shops and attractions and public transport Kitchen had basic amenities but enough of everything for 6 people. Nicely decorated throughout, clean. Good spot to explore heart of the lake districts from. Otherwise nice location.

House was so lovely and perfectly close to the town and all of the shops! Very cosy and decorated lovely. Only things I’d comment on was, there was a small milk in the fridge but no coffee / tea bags, a coffee machine - but no coffee pods. so we had to do a small shop before we settled in. And there wasn’t any hand soap in the toilets, just think these things are basic needs for a house and things you wouldn’t necessarily think to bring on holiday. Other than that everything was perfect!

It is in an excellent location right in the heart of Ambleside. A short 3-4 min walk and you are at the shops and pubs. The house had plenty of light and airy bedroom space plus a fully furnished kitchen. The washing machine and tumble dryer is located in an outbuilding in the rear yard which at first took us a while to find and was not mentioned as being separate in the listing. Other than that, a cosy fireplace, excellent heating, great powerful, warm showers and comfy soft beds made the whole stay very enjoyable. We will definitely keep Bumblebee cottage on our list of ‘would go again’ places.

Beautiful place right in the centre of Ambleside. Parking a little tricky at property, but parking permit provided which allows you to park close by if there isn't a space. Would definitely return & reccommend to others!

We have stayed in Bumblebee Cottage a number of times now and instantly feel at home and relaxed! The location is perfect, so central but very quiet. The cottage is beautifully presented, immaculate and extremely well equipped. We had a very minor issue with the internet and both Lakeland Retreats and the cottage owner were fabulous in resolving the issue very swiftly. Super service! The garden was lovely to sit in during the hot weather
.the dogs enjoyed it too.! This is our Favourite Lake District cottage and I would highly recommend both the cottage and Lakeland Retreats.

The bumblebee cottage is absolutely lovely and a great base for a weekend exploring Ambleside and the lakes.
Parking is very busy in the area and the streets are very narrow so best to take a little car

Great place to stay, the house was clean and spacious. We were 5 adults, a baby and a dog and it was perfect for us. Only a few minutes walk from pubs, shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend

Bumble Bee Cottage is a fabulously warm and welcoming home after exploring the lakes. This beautiful 4 bedroom cottage has everything needed for a comfy stay. Even the views from the bedroom were stunning! Ideal location just a minute walk into town and prime access to all other Lake District locations. Well equipped, well-situated cottage. Whichever window you look out of, you are met with a pretty outlook, and the view from the top floor of the cottage is wonderful. This was an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.

We stayed for a great long weekend at the cottage. Its location is fantastic, central to Ambleside town centre and a 20 minute walk to the ferry pier. Bedrooms are spacious, kitchen well equipped and cosy living room area. Would highly recommend!

We have used Lakeland Retreats a number of times now and always find their cottages exceptionally well presented and cleaned to a high standard. They are an extremely helpful and accommodating company. Bumble Bee Cottage is our new favourite, being very central but in a quiet location , it is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly want on holiday. This cottage is one of the best we have stayed in and we book cottages every month! I would highly recommend this cottage, and have booked our 3rd visit already.!

The cottage is light, bright and welcoming with lovely views over Ambleside. It is well equipped, comfy beds and big fluffy towels. The outside space was a bonus too. There are a few steep slate steps down into the garden which need careful negotiation with toddlers. The outbuilding houses an efficient washing machine and excellent tumble drier and there is also a washing line in the garden. Communication with the host was great when we needed to contact her with questions prior to the booking. I would definitely book the cottage again.

A wonderful stay in fantastic accommodation. Due to COVID restrictions had reason to have various communication before arriving and all the way up to check in this was so professional and helpful all the way through to check in. The property itself is wonderful. A beautiful setting, close to all attractions and amenities, the cottage is at the top of a short steep hill. Parking is provided via a permit in the car park less than 5 minutes walk away. The facilities and cleanliness of the cottage were excellent and a few extra touches which sets it apart. The garden is a few steps from the front of the property and is in a lovely setting with views into Ambleside. We will return at the first possible opportunity, loved it.

This is probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in... and we have stayed in a lot! The location was excellent, being very close to the town...just a minute away. The cottage was very comfortable., beautifully presented, Immaculately clean, and had everything you could possibly want on holiday.... with the added bonus of friendly neighbours. We were very impressed with the high standard of this cottage and will definitely be back.

Perfect location a couple of minutes walk from the centre. The cottage is clean , up to date, all youd want for a trip to the Lakes. The little garden even faces the sun for relaxing in after a day out walking. Think we will be back.

We loved our stay at this beautiful little cottage. The location is fantastic, just a minutes walk into Ambleside town. The views from the bedrooms were gorgeous, everyone had a very comfy bed and it felt very homely to come back to after a long days walking. Everything felt safe and clean in Covid-times. What a fabulous property in an amazing location just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. It is very comfortable and surprisingly spacious - the photos don't really do it justice in that respect. It was a great place to come back to and relax after a hard day walking in the hills and the garden was a good spot to sit on the warm evenings we had while we were there. Would definitely recommend.
