The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere

Embark on a variety of boat trips and boat hire adventures with Windermere Lake Cruises, taking you from Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside, and Lakeside (home to the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway at the southern end of the lake). Just 1.5 miles away, The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre await your exploration.

For a scenic adventure, take a 30-minute stroll to Orrest Head, the very spot that inspired Alfred Wainwright's iconic guidebooks. The historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside, and Troutbeck are a short drive away, each offering their own unique charm. And for the more energetic souls, there's a variety of watersports available at marine centres along the lake.

The region is a treasure trove of exploration, accessible by foot, bike, car, railway, or bus. From the spectacular Langdales to Beatrix Potter's Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park with its delightful walks and outdoor sculptures, to the mountain biking and 'Go-Ape' adventure park – there's something for everyone.

Beautiful, large property with everything you need and close to the centre, restaurants and buses (which run every twenty minutes). Check in was easy and good instructions received. Welcome pack was an added extra containing a wealth of information. Loved the fact that it has a snug and a lounge. Large dining area and kitchen. Downside is there is no back garden which was problematic with the dog and would imagine small children (we were told there was a secure back garden prior to booking). Would have liked to have sat out in the evening. The property shares a small back driveway which serves two other adjacent, overlooking properties. Due to this, felt we had to tiptoe when taking the dog out, especially at night. Whilst it is on road parking, we did not have any issues and managed to park close to the house, although didn't use the car much due to ease of public transport and the property's excellent location. Michelle and her company were very responsive to queries.

Beautiful house in a wonderful location. We're a family of four, plus a spaniel, and Brinkburn had everything we needed for a fab holiday. The snug at the back of the house meant our teenage sons had their own chill out space, as did us parents 😉 Rooms were very spacious, the only improvement would be if there could be a little seating area outside. Would definitely visit again!

Lovely home from home with everything you need. In an excellent location within walking distance from Windermere and Bowness. Lots to do in the area. We were all really comfortable in the house and our Labrador really enjoyed his first holiday. Particularly liked the snug room for our teenager to use. Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Lovely cottage and in a perfect location for exploring the Lakes, but with the added benefit of being able to walk into Bowness for meals, drinks, etc. Loads of lovely restaurants, takeaways and shops within a few minutes. The cottage itself has everything you need and so spacious and clean. Would definitely stay again

A lovely spacious and modern place, even nicer than seen in the photos. Beds were comfortable, whole place felt fresh and clean, and only a very short walk into the centre of Bowness. Small touches were appreciated - milk in the fridge, and a comprehensive welcome pack. Parking was a little tricky - it’s on street and a narrow road, but we managed to find somewhere not far away every day. To note for those coming with pets - there is no secure outside space. We had a fab trip and would absolutely book again!

A fantastic stay at a wonderful cottage. It felt like home. Walkable to Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. So much to do on the doorstep as well as perfect facilities and comfort to relax in the accommodation, too. Would definitely book again.
