A Versatile Layout with A Good Ratio of Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Taking its name from the most iconic and smallest attractions in the Lakes, The Bridge House, the cottage sits directly opposite this famous landmark and offers flexible and versatile accommodation for a larger group.

The open plan living space ensures everyone can join in the fun, play a board game in front of the TV or lend a hand with preparing dinner although with so many great eateries within strides of the front door, you may all decide to have time out from kitchen duties! The king and double bedrooms on the first floor have their own en-suite whilst two twin bedrooms on the second floor share in a good house bathroom, hopefully a good mix for your own party’s requirements.

Great location with all amenities and beautiful walks right on the door step. Included parking permits were very handy too. Layout of the house was perfect for 2 families including kids and dog.

I have been to Ambleside many times over the years and this has to be the best location we have stayed in. The house is great, clean, well- equipped, warm. I actually think some of the reviews on here are a little harsh. The kitchen needs some basic updates but it had everything we needed. We will definitely be rebooking in the future.

All the amenities you could need. Right in the middle of town so ideal for easy access to everything. The best beds and fab showers. The all important plugs near mirrors. Great open space downstairs allowing the group to stay together if cooking, playing games and relaxing all at the same time. Great memories

Lovely place in a great central location in Ambleside. Really good rooms upstairs. The kitchen is a little tired but this is noted in the welcome info and is apparently due for a refurb soon. Lovely pub just over the road and there is Rydal water just up the road (~2 miles). Well worth the walk or drive for a lake that is much quieter and more private than Windermere. It's the perfect spot for swimming or paddle boarding. Any light sleepers would be well advised to sleep in the rooms at the back of the house as the road out front is loud. Otherwise the bedrooms are lovely

Excellent location and a lovely place to stay. Would definitely go back! It is on a busy road but it was quiet enough at night. Really easy to find and parking over the road was fine. We only had to wait for a space once and even then it wasn't for long.

Great place to stay. We used the place as a base to stay to go walking/mountain biking and paddle boarding during the day and of course plenty of drinking in the evenings. The location was perfect for what we needed with multiple activities on the doorstep including pubs over the road which served great food. The place was clean and tidy and had everything that we needed. We would definitely stay again when we are back in the lakes.

Great location, centre of Ambleside. Carpark opposite and have 2 parking permits, was very busy but always got a space after a few drives around, it was summer holidays when we stayed! Bedrooms are great sizes, plenty of space for all of us and fit our travelcot next to the bed.

Great family stay at Bridge House Cottage. Very convenient location. We stayed for a wedding (Barn in the Fells) only 12 mins walk from the house. Car park arrangements ideal. Great open plan ground floor, ideal for family groups.

A group of 7 running friends stayed here when we were taking part in the Lakeland Trails Ultra weekend. The house is perfectly located if you want to be slap bang in the centre of Ambleside, which we did because the race started in Rothay Park. It's over the road from a pub that serves great food, and there are coffee shops and a bakery for breakfast supplies. The house is on the main road through Ambleside, so it can be noisy in the front bedrooms, but you would get that in any town centre location. Overall, we thought the house was a great deal for our budget and the perfect setup for our plans - running, swimming in Rydal water, and eating/drinking in the pub.

Lovely accommodation. Nice to see the little note about the kitchen soon getting updated. The only down side and its not your fault, the music from the bar across the road was very loud.

Bridge House is spacious and was comfortable for 6 adults and our 2 year old daughter. The place is ideally located within Ambleside with a huge car park, pub/restaurant and small eateries within 1 minute of the front door. Ambleside was quite busy with cars and the road runs in front of the property so that is something to consider if you are travelling with kids.

We had a lovely stay. Good communication. The house is as described. Beds and sofas are comfy, everything you need in the kitchen. It was warm, two logs provided and fire lighter, but no kindling, so bring your own. Great location for walks which is why we picked it. If looking for a tranquil and quiet place then as this is next to the main road and there are two pubs behind, and the hounds on a farm nearby can be heard early morning, then this probably isn't the house for you. But overall had a lovely stay.

Nice weekend stay , 6 adults and a dog. House plenty spacious in a great location in the centre of Ambleside. Parking passes for 2 cars to use the car park across the road. No private yard or garden for a dog. Small alleyway at rear which runs behind the row of terraces and isn't enclosed at the other end. There are nearby grassed areas to walk a dog to, a few minutes away. House well appointed and as described. Superb base with amenities and nice walks all available straight from the front door.

The house was perfect for our stay in Ambleside. The two double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the kids loved having space to themselves on the top floor of the house. The living room and kitchen were a great size for our group of 7. The location is perfect for exploring the lakes and it was super helpful having a permit for the car park across the road. We would definitely book this house again for any future visits.

Bridge House is a perfect cottage for a family holiday, great space for 6 of us and 2 dogs.Bedrooms were all spacious and plenty of storage space to unpack. All of us commented on the comfortable beds and lovely showers. Also great space downstairs, lovely big dining table and it was great to have the utility space especially if bringing dogs. Once we had parked we didn't need our cars again we planned all our walks from Ambleside and there is plenty of them. Plenty of eating places also on the doorstep. Would definitely stay here again and would also try Tethera, next door but one if you had a large party and wanted hired the two cottages.

Good location for access to town centre. Very good coffee and treats at The Cornish Bakery just around the corner. Also great for Ambleside's top restaurant, Lake Road Kitchen, which makes for a short walk home. Layout worked well for the family, but best to put children in the back bedrooms as music from the pub across the road is loud - albeit over by 21:00. Impossible to pull up out front to unload, but parking permit provided for Rydal car park just across the road and also valid in a number of car parks in the surrounding area, which is good - however, can be very difficult to find a space. Waited 20+ mins at times. Wifi was intermittent and slow - something to be aware of if you have any important work to do. Rather small TV for the size of the property. Communication with hosts was first class - felt very looked after.

“We booked this listing at short noticed for a long weekend. We have 5 kids and a dog and the home was perfectly spacious. Most importantly in these crazy times it was absolutely spotless. There were antibac soaps at every sink and an alcohol hand wash dispenser at the back door. The house smelled fresh and clean. It was well appointed and the bed linen and mattresses all look as if they have been recently renewed. The house is right in the middle of the town which is great as are parking permits which were provided as there are 2 car parks a stones throw from the front door. We were able to nip back and forward to the car with ease and had no problem getting a space. We enjoyed food from the Flying fleece directly across the road a couple of times. The staff were super helpful and accommodating and the food was delicious, particularly their Sunday roasts! There is a fantastic playpark nearby that has something for all ages and lovely wide open spaces for picnics or kicking a ball. We also enjoyed kayaking, crazy golf and a lovely Waterfall walk. Fantastic stay, fantastic hosts. A bottle of prosecco and a pint of milk was handed to us which was a lovely touch.
