In the Heart of Ambleside a delightful traditional Lakeland Cottage with a contemporary twist

Bowfell is a delightful, two-storey Lakeland stone cottage in the heart of the vibrant town of Ambleside. A stylish and thoughtful renovation provides attractive, light and airy open-plan living, with comfortable and contemporary accommodation. Much of the original character of the cottage has been retained, including local slate flooring, a beautiful traditional slate mantle over a centre-piece wood burner in the lounge and exposed beams in the top bedroom, from where lovely views of Wansfell can be seen across the rooftops.

Bowfell is stylishly finished and well-equipped, with great attention to detail. The light and welcoming lounge with comfortable leather sofas allows for easy relaxation by the wood-burning stove after a day’s walking on the fells, while the open-plan feel makes this a great space for bringing friends and family together. The well-equipped kitchen/dining area which opens out to the lounge, is where cooking and socialising become natural companions.

A useful utility room by the back door includes a good-sized coat rack/ boot drying area along with a washing machine, tumble dryer and an adjacent Wetroom, all providing easy wash off, dry out & storage for kit and equipment ready for the next day’s adventures.

Upstairs, soft beds beckon with high-quality linens to sink into for a good night’s sleep and with unlimited hot water from the gas combi-boiler, a luxurious soak in the first-floor Victorian-style bath or long hot showers can be enjoyed anytime.

Outside a lovely enclosed rear courtyard provides a perfect secluded spot for a morning coffee or alfresco dining, with a small bin store and an outside tap & hose - helpful for washing down muddy boots and dogs!

With slate flooring throughout the ground floor and utility room space for dog leads, bowls and bedding, Bowfell is a dog-friendly cottage, with one well-behaved small/medium-sized dog welcome.

A group of friends looking for a weekend of outdoor activities, the house was perfect and situated in a great location. The hosts were super proactive in messaging and responded promptly when I contacted them in the run up to our stay. Thanks so much!

Immaculately clean, well equipped, very comfortable and in the centre of Ambleside but quiet. The back yard was a lovely place to sit in the sun on an evening. Really enjoyed our weekend and would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Lovely place in the centre of Ambleside, comfortable beds and great selection of Dvds. I particularly loved watching the Matrix (original) after a long wet hike up and down Scarfell. One thing I would say that could of been better is that there was no salt, pepper, sugar, oil, sunflower at least come on!!! Dining room chair's bit outdated. Overall wonderful stay in a wonderful location with wonderful friends. Just wonderful! I would recommend.
