PERFECTLY PLACED FOR TWO AND A DOG

Being the end of a row of cottages, Amber Cottage is a pretty bolt hole for two and your dog. With walks from the door, you can leave your car behind and enjoy the stunning fells nearby. As a traditional village, Ambleside has so much to offer in a small area; with a great deal of walking, traditional pubs, quaint shops and lots of dog-friendly eateries.

Amber Cottage sits in one of the oldest parts of Ambleside, nestled quietly at the bottom of Wansfell. Just down the hill is the head of Windermere, England’s largest natural lake, with Waterhead being just a short stroll downhill from the doorstep.

This cottage is in a great location, on a quiet street but right in the middle of Ambleside. So much to do right on the doorstep we didn’t use the car all weekend Views are amazing as soon as you step out the front door and the cottage itself is very cozy. The kitchen was very well supplied with all the utensils needed to cook for ourselves, and the backyard is great for anyone with a dog. Would defo stay again !!

We have had a lovely stay in the cottage, perfect for two of us and a dog. Quiet road, very easy to get into Ambleside, cottage was clean and cosy. The only downside was the lack of parking by the cottage, but the parking permit provided was very useful in Ambleside and other nearby locations.

A little gem! Stayed here for 4 nights with our dog and can not recommend enough. Spotlessly clean, everything you could need there waiting for you. 2 minute walk into Ambleside town so once you park the car, it can stay there for the duration. Will definitely be booking again for a winter break.

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage was great although parking a bit tricky by the cottage. The road is narrow and parking is therefore restricted. A parking permit is provided for car parks down the hill away from the cottage. We had trouble with the lights and fan in the bathroom but this was quickly fixed. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage which had everything you would need. It was also spotlessly clean.

Very happy with the accommodation and location which is very convenient to local restaurants and shopping. Only negative was that parking was a little awkward as the cottage is very small and has no allocated parking space.

Great little break over Easter. The cottage was less than a ten minute walk from Ambleside town with a clear view of Lake Windermere. Very cosy and clean cottage to stay. Just to echo everyone else, you can’t park outside but if you carry on up the lane there is street parking!

We had a lovely stay at Amber cottage! A little difficulty finding the cottage as our sat nav didn’t recognise the address so suggest you map to “busk cottages” instead. To be greeted with a bottle of fizz, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee was a real luxury and not something we have had before with other companies. Perfect for a long weekend. Thank you!

Lovely little cottage in a great location, it's close to the town but not to close where you're in the middle of it all. The cottage is cute, very well kept, it's clean and cosy and has all the little bits and bobs you need for your time away from home.

Lovely, cosy cottage in a great location. Well equipped, comfortable bed, peaceful. We did have a couple of issues with the temperature of the bath water and smoky log burning stove, but we messaged Michelle and it was sorted out quickly.

Lovely little cottage in a great location, we loved our stay here as it was super cosy. The photos don't really do it justice. The walk is only 5 minutes if that to the center of Ambleside. The house is on a quiet road, however the door opens up directly onto the street and the odd car does drive past pretty fast, so be careful if you have a dog. The log burner is great to have however we were disappointed that no logs are left, this would be a nice addition as we struggled to get logs locally due to all being sold out! All in all a lovely Airbnb, would definitely stay again!

A cosy Lake District retreat! Fantastic location, 5 minute walk down to Ambleside town; boasting wonderful eateries and public houses. With Lake Windermere a short stroll away, and plenty of walk/hike/historic/site-seeing excursions easily accessed from the cottage, it is ideal for any adventurist wanting to explore the Lake District. The cottage was exactly as described and the log burner was a wonderful addition. We loved our stay and will definitely look to book again in the future!

Amber Cottage was an amazing place to stay, the location was perfect for a little getaway. The cottage was spotless and very cosy and there was even a christmas tree to get us into the christmas spirit! The photographs don’t do the property justice and we will definitely be back.

Amber Cottage was a cosy stay in a great location not far from the high street with plenty of great walks nearby. Communication was clear and speedy and the check in was really easy. Whilst a small cottage it has everything you need as a couple for a short stay.

Amber Cottage is perfect if you’re looking for a cosy escape to the lakes. Perfect for two, its in a great location for a short and enjoyable wander into Ambleside and you can see Lake Windermere from the bedroom. The cottage itself is clean and bright and has a modern bathroom and fresh decor throughout. Checking in was easy and whilst you can’t park at the cottage the accompanying parking permit permits you to park in a multitude of car parks, the closest being barely 5 minutes away. In the interest of balance there was a maintenance issue on arrival which just couldn’t wait until the next day, however this was handled and resolved very promptly by the out of hours contact, so we couldn’t ask for more there. Overall, highly recommended accommodation and I’d look to return in the future.

Location was great for everything we wanted to do whilst visiting the Lake District for our first time. Was disappointed that no logs were left for us as promised for our first evening by the company. The plumbing is a little dodgy and had trouble flushing away our business, so ended up having to use the pub toilet for the last few days. Blood marks were on the outside and on the flip side of the duvet and pillows which we found again very unhygienic. For the amount we paid, we hoped for better cleanliness.

Amber cottage is in a great location, 5min walk and you're in the heart of Ambleside. Cottage was clean, came with everything you need and although parking is not available - it comes with a permit which caters for plenty of car parks. Have recommended to family/friends.

A small cottage but clean and smart. Parking at the property is not possible as the lane is too narrow to park outside and some vehicles come up and down the lane at speed. However, there is a parking permit for the local car parks, the nearest one being about a 5 minute walk away. There is a shared patio area but this has to be accessed via a pathway at the side of the neighbouring property but we did not use it as it feels a bit of an intrusion on next door. Lakeland Retreats, who manage the property were helpful and quick to respond. Ambleside is a nice town with lots of restaurants to choose from and some interesting shops. A very nice compact and bijoux property.

Just had a wonderful week staying at Amber cottage it was just perfect for 2 & a dog. We had so much fun enjoying Ambleside and exploring the surrounding area would definitely recommend walking up Wenfell Pike as the views of the lake are breathtaking. We walked over to Wrays castle which was great as we saw deer in the field up close & personal to nature. We were lucky as the weather has been outstanding but we really loved our visit to the Lakes and can’t thank Lakeland Retreats for a wonderful find in Amber cottage & the lovely bottle of Prosecco left as a welcome.
