A Historic Retreat in the Heart of Ambleside

Altar End is a thoughtfully furnished and well-designed holiday home situated in a prime location within Ambleside's historic quarter. This charming cottage is within easy walking distance of the village centre, offering convenient access to a variety of amenities, shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.

As its name suggests, Altar End was creatively transformed from the eastern end of the former St Anne's Church. The site is rich in local history and is nestled in one of the oldest and most characterful parts of the village.

The cottage has been carefully reimagined to provide a comfortable base for your adventures. With numerous scenic walks starting right at the doorstep, it's perfect for all ages. Plus, you'll have ample opportunities to tour the magnificent Lake District National Park.

The front door opens into a fully fitted and well-equipped dining kitchen, leading through to a cosy sitting room complete with a TV, DVD player, free Wi-Fi, and an iPod/iPhone docking station with Bluetooth for guests to play their own music. Upstairs, you'll find three inviting bedrooms: one double, one twin, and one single. The attractive bathroom features a bath with a shower over it, a basin, and a WC.

The entire cottage is very comfortable, furnished with high-quality pieces in a tasteful and traditional style that complements the property's historic charm. The bedrooms are adorned with good fabrics and pine furnishings, and the arched windows upstairs have been retained to enhance the ambience. The cottage is carpeted throughout and features gas-fired central heating. There is also space under the stairs for hanging your walking gear, and the upstairs double room offers lovely views of Wansfell.

The pleasant enclosed patio garden is partially screened by trees and features a picnic table, perfect for enjoying breakfast or dining al fresco on warmer evenings. There is private parking available for one car, and the village centre amenities are just a few minutes' walk away.
