There’s a comfortable lounge with log burner to the front of the cottage with a spacious dining room off the neat kitchen to the rear, well stocked with all you’ll need for a self-catering break.

An enclosed courtyard to the rear is the perfect spot for an ‘al fresco’ breakfast, lunch, or even an aperitif before dinner in one of many superb restaurants that Ambleside has to offer.

Amazing place, highly recommended

of restaurants, shops and hiking at the doorstep. Parking at nearby council parking which you get a permit for. Works well and only a short walk away. House was clean and comfortable and feel spacious. Only thing is water pressure could be better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swiss Villas and would recommend to anyone looking for comfortable, well equipped accommodation in a perfect location for exploring Ambleside and the Lake District. Right in the centre of Ambleside and walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and bars. The cottage contained everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again if visiting Ambleside.

Conveniently located near the centre of Ambleside, close to restaurants and the local park where our dog enjoyed the freedom to explore. The house was clean and comfortable and well equipped. We would like thank the staff at Lakeland Retreats who were very helpful.

This is a great olde worlde property. May not be for some but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Was like staying at my grandmothers. Location is superb for access to Ambleside town and walks. Loads of walks direct from the house. Very clean.

We had a lovely break in this comfortable and beautifully clean cottage. It is in the prefect location for easy access to shops and amenities but so easy to escape into the beauty of the fells - even walking from the front door. Highly recommended!

Excellent spacious accommodation right in the centre of Ambleside. Short walking distance to Windermere Lake. Fantastic location for walkers and fell runners. Local fells are Loughrigg Fell, Wansfell Pike, Fairfield Horseshoe and more. Ambleside has all essential facilities including a wide rage of restaurants, cafes and sports/activities shops.

This property is well located in central Ambleside where there are fabulous shops and restaurants. There is also a lovely park on the doorstep. The property has a good bathroom, but be warned the kitchen is very small.

Myself and a work colleague had the pleasure to stay here for 8nights while we were working on a project locally.. The fact that the property had two parking permits was an immense plus and it was spotlessly clean. It had a very warm and cosy feel and all we needed in the kitchen etc was there. Very handy for the local shops and bars.. Will definitely book again when either working or visiting the area..

An absolutely superb cottage, right in the heart of Ambleside! Yet still conveniently tucked away in a private, safe and peaceful area. My father is from Ambleside so his "cottage expectations" are high to say the least but this cottage far exceeded any of our expectations, it was the quintessential perfect English cottage for our 10 day holiday! It was filled with character, thoughtful touches from the patterned curtains, wide variety of books and board games in the living room, array of tourist brochures/ pamphlets, to the fantastically fully equip kitchen (which has an amazing oven)! It has a great layout, clean and quite environment, comfortable beds, the check in and check out process was super easy for Airbnb first-timers like ourselves, the team who manage the property were great, friendly, easy to communicate with and always on hand to help. We would absolutely recommend staying here and very much look forward to our next stay! ***HIGHLY RECOMMEND***”

3 Swiss Villas is a charming small terraced house in central Ambleside with all amenities on your doorstep. It is very warm and clean and has a small but well kitted out kitchen and a sweet dining room. There is a little back yard leading out to a shared back entrance. The local dog friendly park is a few minutes walk away. There are 2 parking permits and we had no problem finding a parking space on Vicarage Road but it was November!! The small bathroom is modern with a big shower and lots of hot water. There were 3 of us with a small dog and it was perfect. Would definitely recommend and return.

“A spacious and homely cottage in the heart of Ambleside. Superb location for access to all the village has to offer, and to be able to walk from the door to some fabulous countryside. Parking easy with permit and little courtyard garden a bonus. Great communications prior/during stay, thoughtful amenities provided like towels/washing machine, great new moderined bathroom. Great to be able to take a small dog as this is a wonderful location to have them with you. Overall a great location and space made it a superb week in Ambleside. Thanks!

This was a wonderful location. Right in the center of Ambleside, but off the main loop and raised from the street with lovely views of the surroundings. A stone's throw from all shops, the park/recreation grounds, and of course the start of many great walks. The owner lives next door and was attentive but not intrusive. There was always parking available out front and with the resident's pass provided, it was not an issue at all. The beds were really comfortable. We would happily stay again! Only thing is that the property is rented through a rental company called Lakeland Retreats, which I didn't realise when I first booked it through here. It meant I didn't get the exact dates I had searched for on Airbnb (more traditional changeover day options) but they were great about it, and the check in process and all communication was very smooth and pleasant. I would definitely use the company again.

We had a lovely stay - 2 adults a toddler a baby and a dog. There are 3 floors in the cottage and a small garden so plenty of space. Lovely views from the top floor over Ambleside. A few supplies were provided which was nice and there is a washer dryer in the outhouse which was useful. Had a very enjoyable stay.

A charming cottage right in the centre of Ambleside town. The bathroom had been recently renovated so was perfect. The kitchen was tiny but well-equipped. However, although the house actually sleeps 6, I think it would have been a squeeze if there had been 6 of us (we were four) because of the tiny kitchen. The house was also warm and comfortable. We had a slight concern with the heating one morning but it was dealt with immediately and the owners came round to check that everything was alright which was kind of them. The location is smack bang in the middle of Ambleside which is great if you don't want to use the car - which we didn't - and, only being there for the weekend we had plenty of local walks and activities to keep us amused without having to battle with the local traffic.

Swiss Villas is i. Close proximity to the centre of Ambleside so perfect for walking into the centre. Parking was not an issue we were given discs to park in close proximity to the cottage.

Great location, clean and with everything we needed. Good communication and directions before we arrived. The owners live next door and popped in to see if everything was ok which was a nice touch. Some much appreciated touches like... comfy beds (without ends, great for tall people!), quality linen + towels and clean sponges/clothes/tea towels & washing up liquid in kitchen. The wifi didn't work while we were there but it didn't affect our stay as we had phone reception. Perfect for a family of 4 and we hope to stay again.

A wonderful air b n b experience. Lovely, cosy cottage with a terrific location in Ambleside. Everything you could want on your doorstep - coffee house with juice bar, bakery, supermarkets plus a beautiful village with an abundance of cafes and restaurants. The owner popped around and was so kind and offered to help with anything. The house was perfect for our small family holiday. Highly recommend!

3 Swiss Cottage is a great location situated within easy walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants in Ambleside. You can step straight out of your door and find your way on lovely walks to Rydal and Loughrigg Fell. Families will appreciate the ready access to the park at the edge of the village. If you find that the weather scuppers your plans for a walk, there is a great cinema (Zefferelli's) in town. The cottage itself was well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed (and, again, the local grocery shops are mere minutes walk away). We were able to find a few days where we had 2-3 meals there at the cottage. The rooms were perfect for our party of four (2 adults and 2 pre-teens). Towels were provided (which was helpful for travellers from North America who didn't want to expend valuable luggage space by packing them for the trip!). The washing machine also helped us pack fewer clothing essentials than we would otherwise, again making for an easier trip. It all combined to make us feel very much at home. Parking worked out for us nicely. The hosts had a parking permit (actually, two) and we were lucky enough to regularly find a spot on one of the two roads the permit allows you to park on. That may be down to my parking mojo, though! All in all, we'll want to return!

Lovely few days away in the lakes, location was perfect for getting around Ambleside and the local area, and you can easily walk into the hills straight from the house.

The best thing about this property is the location. There’s plenty of shops restaurants and amenities on your doorstep. As for the property it’s quite dated in appearance (internally) and needs some tlc, but has some lovely features. The bathroom is very modern and the only room that’s been updated.

Wonderful stay for a family of 4 with our small dog in central Ambleside. We couldn't get over how great the location was with everything we could want a stones throw away, from the park and play area to the cafes and town centre. On street parking just outside the house was no problem and late night key collection worked very well. Lovely house with everything we needed for a long weekend. Will definitely be looking to stay again next time we're in Ambleside.

Wonderful stay for a family of 4 with our small dog in central Ambleside. We couldn't get over how great the location was with everything we could want a stones throw away, from the park and play area to the cafes and town centre. This is a great house in a perfect location. It is just off one of the main streets but is really quiet. 2 minutes walk to shops, pubs, restaurants and the park. Great place to start for those further afield walks too. The house is on 3 floors and would sleep 6 comfortably however I would say the only tiny downside is just one bathroom which didn't bother us as we were only 2 but it may if there were 6 of you. The house was spotless, we loved that we could take our dog at no extra charge and also you would never know that dogs had been in the house. We would definitely stay again
